Firstly I'm not 100% sure but I believe what I am looking to be able to do is what's referred to as a "Semi-Attended Transfer". Basically we want to be able to transfer a call that we've answered to another extension and as soon as we here it ring hang up. I'm finding this works using our Fanvil X3G desk phones but I cannot for the life of me get this working using the Yealink W53's that we also have. The Yealink guide suggests it should work.

Anyone have any ideas? Could it be a template issue? Thanks in advance. Pulling my hair out.

It's entirely possible I'm getting confused between the different types of transfer and more than likely I'm asking the question the wrong way.

So at the moment in order to transfer using the Yealink we have to wait until the other extension has answered and then we can hang up and the call is transferred. If we hang up or click on transfer before they have answered the call is lost.

By blind transfer if you mean you can simply transfer and upon clicking transfer that it's the call goes through to the other extension immediately then that would be the best option but that does not currently work from the Yealink however it does from the Fanvil.

As for PBX I'm running 3CX Enterprise 16.0.676 hosted in the cloud. The Yealink DECT phones are W53s and the Fanvil desk phones are X3G.

Sorry/thanks - hope I'm making sense.

You didn't answer lots of points to provide us some lights on your settings.

Do you use W53 H handsets on DECT base? on which firmware? handset are up to date?
if so then to engage transfer there's a "TRAN" button to press on left bottom corner

Do you use W53 H handsets on DECT base? on which firmware? handset are up to date?.....yes to both.

Phones are STUN.

The Trans button I’m aware of as that’s what is used to initiate the transfer. Still having the issue as reported.

I’m aware of the link as used this when provisioning first time. I don’t see any specific mention to call forwarding in there.

Thanks again for your help.

only found that on these phones

Perhaps search directly on DECT Base GUI, if you have transfer menu available, and change settings there

I did find this before I posted here and the procedure as outlined does not work as it suggests.

Will check over the base station GUI as per your other post and report back.

Hi Martyn,

If by semi-attended you mean transfer a call while the recipient extension is still ringing, we do not support this (whether it happens to work on some devices or not).

Hi @JohnS_3CX
it seems to be only semi attented working instead of what he wants (blind transfer)

@aws2p - Similar options on the base GUI. Only semi-attneded was disabled. I'm guessing for the reason stated by @JohnS_3CX

I'm conscious of the fact I am not great at putting it in words. Sorry for that and honestly thank-you reaching out to help me here.

Am I correct in thinking a blind transfer enables me to answer an inbound call, press forward on the phone, enter in the extension I want to forward the call to and then press forward/ok and not have to wait until that other extension has answered before I can continue to use my own extension/phone to make/receive another call?

Yes that's it

Hi Martyn,

Just to clear any confusion here:

a) Blind = answer a call, and blindly send it to another extension using the transfer button. Your phone does not contact the destination at all, and it then goes back to idle.

b) Attended = You call the destination while original caller is temporarily on hold, wait for them to pick up and inform them you will transfer a call. Then you transfer and your phone goes back to idle.

c) Semi-Attended = like above, but while the destination is still ringing, you don't wait and transfer the call anyway. Your phone then goes back to idle.

So which of the above would you like to do?

Hi @JohnS_3CX,

With a blind transfer, once the transfer has been initiated do you have to wait for the destination extension to answer before you can continue using your own phone/extension to make/receive other calls etc?

No, you are instantly freed. Like I said above, your phone does not contact the destination, it sends the call away and becomes idle again.

Idle = becomes free again, immediately ready to use

That works for us. How do I go about doing that?

Should be fairly straightforward:

  1. Answer a call
  2. Press transfer
  3. Type destination extension
  4. Press transfer again and you are done

Try it and if this does not work for you I will ask you for further details so we can troubleshoot it together.

I will give this a go and report back. While I'm not currently in the office where the system in question resides the office I am in has similar handsets (W52 rather than W53) and trying that doesn't seem to work. Once you complete step 4 the destination phone picks up and hears nothing. Later on, a voicemail is left on the extension initiating the transfer.

I am due to move over to the other office with the W53 handsets at mid-day so I will try from there with those handsets too.
