Hi,
Using 3CX on a RasperriPi 3B. So far, it has worked well. Clean install in April and have SIP Trunks, as well as Gateways conncted to a POTS line. Using a SIP ATA for the home cordless phones and an Avaya 9611 I had clunking around. Again, so far so good.

Last week while troubleshooting a call routing issue, the Activity log started hanging with the error "Server Error:3CX Management console is not responding. This may be be a browser issue - Clear your browser cache, refresh and try again." Cleared the Cache and restarted my PC and the PI. No issues. Now, I get that message every time I access the Activity Log and the entire PI freezes up. The Activity log is set to "Medium", and we hardly ever have two simultaneous calls. The biggest issue is I can't access the Activity Log to see what may be causing the issue.

Any thoughts?

Hi @hol9798

Is it a 3B+ Pi or just a 3B?

@Kenneth Knudsen is your cloud server a very small machine perhaps with limited RAM and CPU?

Are you noticing any instances of the 3CXManagementService stopping and restarting?

Do you recognize the IP it's resolving to?

Just a note here, if you signed up for a new key and got a free 3CX hosted instance for evaluation, and then following this you also deployed it on your own machine, then the free instance will be competing for the FQDN and you may see the IP switch back forth when you do an nslookup.

If that it the case, you can contact me via a private message and we can arrange to delete the free instance.

Hi - mine is a Pi 3B+. no UIP conflicts and I downloaded the software and license in April, using the OnPrem license. It is now starting to affect other screens - for example, today on the Outbound rules page I got the error and no rules loaded.

@Aaron Paul - I'm not sure which service is starting/stopping, but I am thinking one is. Just after I replied above, I refreshed the page to see if it would load and my phones all disconnected and the webpage hung with the green progress bar.

@Kenneth Knudsen - I was mistaken - the logic board says "Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Ver 1.2", which based on a quick google search shows it is NOT a B+, just a B.

So surely not enough ressources and 3CX services stops alone or heat problem, or SD card failure , is it a good one? enough space?

I’ve got a heat sink, with plenty of airflow. (Pi is not in an enclosure and is in the open) Heat sink is not warm when touched. SD card is a SanDisk 64g class 10; new at install, do I don’t it’s the SD card.
I Guess system is underpowered since it’s not a B+? I am a hobbyist, so at most I have 2 concurrent calls.

LMK if you truly think that these issues are caused by an underpowered system - I used a Pi I already had, but will get an inexpensive mini pc if that is the issue.

If I have time this weekend, I’ll do a fresh install in a new SD card and restore the system to see if that can rule in/out the SD card.

do you have an old pc unused just for a try as PBX instead of PI 3B

No, unfortunately not, as I recently moved and got rid of the old PCs I had before the move.
I can get a used HP Elite desk with an AMD10 8700B for cheap on eBay. That should have plenty of horsepower for this application.

use it with linux 3CX debian iso and you get more from hardware than Windows 10 and no license cost for OS

Absolutely! I never trust servers to Windows, unless it’s my only option ;)

No friend with an old machine to give or lend for this test?

I could probably spin up a VM on my macPro using VirtalBox...thoughts?

If not, I also found an Atom Z8350 machine online for >$100with 4gbRAM and 64sdd. This should be powerful enough for my application, especially running Debian.

We only tested the release on 3B+ so we would not know if the 3B can cause issues.

It is also a good idea to have a backup of your SD, in case it becomes corrupted (they do have a limited life after all and will eventually fail) and a backup of your PBX off of the server (ie in your FTP or bucket) in case you need to rebuild.

Lastly, the power supply used should be the original or one that exceeds the original, enough to allow the device to remain stable.

I reinstalled the OS and 3CX and performed a restore. Everything seems to be working now. I’ll let it cook and let everyone know.
