We get asked a lot how assistants can setup conference calls for their boss. If they use, for instance, the 3CX legacy desktop app or the Web Client, it seems to make them the organizer and then they need to be on the call in order to let others in. Plus, I believe they would also need to end the conference.

Is there no method for creating a conference call where they can designate their boss or someone else as the organizer? All we could come up with is having them login to their boss's Web client.

Or, are others setting up their conferences so that participants don't have to wait for the organizer? We tried this, but it seems to screw up the users that join from the desktop link.

Is this for a web meeting or audio conference? When creating a web meeting, click the gear/settings icon then uncheck "meeting starts once organizer joins." Then others can join but of course not the organizer. I've never had an issue with people being sent a meeting link...?

A web meeting will end when all parties quit, and then time out and disappear sometime after that (a few days? it's not instant).

Can the assistant log in to the boss's extension in a browser, and create the meeting there?

These are audio conferences. We can have the assistant login as the boss, but this presents some privacy issues.

We've noted that for Audio Conferences, when we have "Prompt for conference callers waiting for the organizer" left blank in the admin portal and the participant receives a link to join the audio conference from a browser, the caller reaches the conference and is asked to press * to continue but can't press anything, as there is nothing to press. If we instead use hold music in that same field, the participant is placed on hold and when the organizer comes into the conference they are joined. Perhaps it's a bug.
