Hey Guys,

Never got a proper response on this post https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/shifts-that-run-over-midnight.80662/

Its really hindering call flows, just wondering if there is any workaround? Seems like adding seconds field would get rid of the issue as you could set xx:xx:xx to 23:59:59 then 00:00:00 to 01:00:00

A response with something would be very much appreciated.

What is your definition of a proper response? The 3CX response to that thread seems proper and definitive.

If you read the thread one of the 3CX support guys say they will discuss internally for solutions and then never responded and the thread was locked.

it’s really easy to be a keyboard warrior but I’d ask you keep unhelpful responses to yourself (especially when they aren’t even accurate).

Apparently I had read the thread since I mentioned that there was a 3CX response. I think 3CX acknowledging that it's an issue and that they would discuss if it could be resolved is proper. It seems to boil down to one's definition of proper which, in this case, we disagree.

And if we are going to nit pick about what is considered an unhelpful response, it would seem your response falls in that category no? You asked for a reply with something, and you got something. You inaccurately assumed I didn't read the thread even though my post referenced the 3CX response to it. And you haven't defined what you consider a proper response which is why I posted that question in the first place. Not a lot of help to be found there.

I would have to agree with Graham, that given the response from 3CX, almost a month ago, the expectation was, that there would some sort of an answer by now. And they would have had to re-open the thread to respond.

Either....

"Here is a way you can work around this, for the time being...."

or...

"At this time there is nothing that can be done, and we will look into addressing this, in a future update"

or..

"we have not yet had time to look into that"

One method I have seen used to extend hours across the midnight mark (time reporting software), is by using 24 hour time, and simply continuing to count up. So, midnight becomes 2400, 1am becomes 2500 , etc. You could then set office hours from 0900 to 2600, meaning you would be open until 2am.

Perhaps this could be considered in the future.

Expectations are just that. A quick stroll through the ideas section would show requests years old, some with no responses from 3CX. Common sense would dictate that if there was a work around, 3CX or someone would have posted it by now. But I would categorize that as a resolution, not a response which was already given. But it seems to be a fundamental design issue and like most software development companies, they aren't going to commit to anything without figuring out the full impact of that change. And with the focus on getting v18 out the door, it doesn't seem unreasonable that they haven't updated it yet. They only have so much in the way of development resources which I'm sure are already committed to various other requests. And while this is a high priority issue for the OP, given that it's been there for quite some time without really any discussion about it prior, it's probably considered low priority at this point.

I whole heartedly agree a update would be fantastic and be excellent customer service, but I still think that the 3CX response was proper. Maybe not complete, or not timely if you want to factor in everything from start to resolution, but as far as what the op stated was a concern, and 3CX saying we agree and we will see what we can do, that seems proper.

I do hope it's as simple as the op suggests as a possible fix, but plenty of other requests such as outbound rule flexibiilty and others which took years to appear 'seemed' to be a simple code fix and it was stated many times by various 3CX folks that without having access to the code, we have no idea what is and isn't simple.

The only two options I can see to work around this would be:

- Perhaps using a CFD to handle the hours? Not a CFD expert but I know there's a lot of flexibility to be found there.
- Routing at the provider level if available. We used this often to work around routing limitations for things like this

Hi @GrahamStewart,

To update you, this has been updated internally, and we're investigating if there is anything that can be done regarding it. While I can't promise the answer will be a hard 'yes, it'll be fixed to your specifications' - I wanted to let you know that it is being looked at, to reassure you.

Thanks @VasilisV_3CX s,

I think its a major flaw in the software as most other systems I've used has the capability to run over midnight without a.1 min support gap..... it is a must that its fixed IMO. If the functionality can be achieved without CFD that is preferable but even if CFD could support it that would solve my issue.

@cobaltit From a customer perspective its obvious our expectations vary from Partners. @leejor's comment justifies it. I'm confused why you are even posting on this to be honest. I think its prob to keep your post count up or something. Would you just leave the thread alone and not post unless you have a useful suggestion around fixing the issue. To add CFD has the same limitations you cannot run over midnight. It seems super unhelpful to be commenting and just adds un necessary noise to the thread. You are simply defending a vendor with a clear fault in their software for the sake of it, it would seem. Its broke and I'd like it added to some sort of improvements queue and as a paying customer I would have appreciated some feedback and updates on the discussions. Not too much to ask.

Thanks,

Graham
