Hello Everyone,
can somebody help undestrand how 3CX expects authentication variables when using a Siemens Gigaset A540IP.

The funny thing is that I have allready installed one and it is working good with extension's default username and password in 3cx extension properties.

I was used to change username with extension number but I'd love to not change anything for security reasons.

So I have configured one Gigaset A540IP in this way (this is from the Settings/Telephony/IPconnection1 page):

1. IP Connection

Assign a connection name or actual phone number for identification.
Connection name or number:

344 (my extension)

I reapeat that I have another Siemens Gigaset A540IP with same eaxact firmware version configured in the same exact way working with the same 3cx pbx.

Thanks in advance

Hello @tecno

As this is not a supported device we are not familiar on the needed configuration needed to get this working but since you have another device that works i would imagine that you just need to copy the settings over. If the settings are identical then check if the devices are running the same firmware and see if anything is different there. Also check the Activity log of the PBX for clues as to why the registration is not working.
If all fails i would recommend using a supported device to eliminate any guessing work and manual configuration. https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/

If it might help someone I have been got it working just configuring the second IP connection(under the telephony section). I have made the exact same settings as it was in the first connection but it always give registration failed, If I configure the second it's ok. Don't ask me why because I really don't know the cause. :)

Although this is not exactly what you are looking for it might be worth having a look around Gigasets techno wiki: https://teamwork.gigaset.com/gigawiki/display/GPPPO/3CX+-+N510+Installation+and+autoprovisioning

Although not officially supported in either method I would read this if trying to provision outside of the Local LAN: https://teamwork.gigaset.com/gigawiki/display/GPPPO/6.+Security

“Gigaset VoIP phones can use https (HTTP over TLS) but without client certification only.”

Since there has been no change to that wiki page I would imagine this is still the case. I think the better option would be using them across a VPN.

Glad to see the issue has been resolved and thank you for the update
