I have had SMS working well forever but today all my messages disappeared and now it's not working at all.

The API key did disappear from the SIP configuration but this seems to be a new way to configure as I do not remember the SMS being inside the SIP Settings.

Happened on 2 systems I know of.

Hi @tek3

Please note that the configuration of the SMS, since V18 Update 5, has been moved to the SIP Trunk configuration >> SMS tab. The messaging tab was still available in V18 Update 5, but the SMS should of been configured in the SIP Trunk and not the Messaging section in V18 Update 5.

In V18 Update 6 the Messaging section has been removed completely from the Management Console.
Please find our guide regarding the SMS configuration in V18 Update 6 here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/sip-trunks/#h.uphdz78dxdph

Got it reconfigured however now I am no longer able to use it like I used to.

I have my main number coming in to a digital receptionist that then people push 1 in order to be connected to the call queue. With the previous I was able to tell that number to send text messages directly to the call queue for my "group" to receive messages. Now it looks like I will have to take out the digital receptionist for it to work.

Please note that in V18 Update 6, you can still send the calls to a Digital Receptionist and set a fixed destination for the SMS.

This can be set up from the Web Client >> Admin section, from an extension that has "System Administration (Can administer the phone system)" right enabled in the extension's configuration >> Rights tab.

Please find the relevant guide here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/ivr-digital-receptionist/#h.q1v8laia3t51

Great I will work on that now. I am having trouble sending texts from 3CX. When I send out a new text it has the red x on the message and does not send. I do not have the option under user general allow SMS like described in the instructions. Is this what's causing me not being able to send new SMS messages?

Regarding the SMS option in the extensions' configuration, this is no longer required, as the SMS option is enabled by default for all extensions.
The only prerequisite is that an SMS enabled DID is pointing to a destination that the extension is part of(Call Queue, Ring Group, Extension Group, or directly to the extension), and the extension will be able to use that DID in order to initiate SMS conversations.

Also, make sure that your DID are configured in E164 format in the SIP Trunk configuration.

That fixed all my issues! Thank you!
