Hi!

I couldn't find a way to use the click to call function on Android:
When following a "phone link" like in google maps, the Android dialer is opened and the system does not ask to call with 3CX.

Is there a way to enable this function?

Regards

Jonas

Hi Jonas,

This is more of an Android thing than a 3CX thing, so we can't help you with that but try looking up something like

"How to get Android to ask for my choice of phone dialer?"

Hi! Thanks for your answer!
it's a 3CX thing as the app does not show at all in the possible dialers list.
Regards!

Hmm not sure why that would be the case..
I reset the default dialler on a phone now and did get 3CX pop us as an option:

Model: Nothing Phone
Version: Android 13
App Version: 18.1.3.135

One of my customer report the same on IOS, but did not looked into it atm

I tried to wipe data of the app, uninstalled, reinstalled and reprovisionned it, but it does not looks to help

Tell him to check first with WhatsApp (or any other 3rd-party app)

If WhatsApp is listed in the dialer list, then 3CX client will be also; if not - not.

Hi Jonas, I was able to test this exact model and version now, but in our case we did get a list of apps that included both 3CX, default dialler, skype..

We do not appear there, because we are not a Android dialler but we can handle call links

So are you sure you cleared the default dialler of Android?
Try the following which is exactly what I did:

- Long-press on the default dialer app icon
- Tap the "i" button
- Tap on "Open by default"

- Now Clear the default

Once this is cleared, you can now go in Chrome for example and tap on result in Google
Since Android does not have a default, you will see a menu pop up at the bottom of your screen. and it will ask you every time what app to use. If you don't set a default, you will always be asked in the future.

You're absolutely right!
Thanks a lot for your help and tests.

Will dig into this for the IOS phone when i get my hands on the phone

Hi John,
Regarding this: is there a chance 3cx will be considered as a dialer?
I'm asking this because one of my customer has a professional App that only ask for "dialer" apps.
is there a way for 3cx to be used in this case?

Hi,

That would be outside our scope because our app is exclusively used for VoIP calls via the 3CX system.
