So with update 9, I was expecting something to come along and tell me that my phones were using IP addresses and not FQDN and would update the phones with the changes, maybe a banner like the System Owner Role did. Do these conversion tools exist?

If you have an existing install with IP Phones, and you convert to split DNS, you have to run our conversion function to update your system to use an FQDN system wide and not a local IP on the local LAN. We are readying an update to allow you to make this conversion once you have configured your split DNS. We expect to deliver this update in October and it will include a number of checks and conversions in order to prepare for version 20.

Update 9 - one of the last updates for V18. With V20 Beta just around the corner, the main function of Update 9 is to prepare your 3CX installation for the upcoming Version 20 release.

No you can keep using IPs if you wish

Great, I have separate VLANs, the computer VLAN can do the DNS lookup for the Windows client/app, I need to check what happens on the Wi-Fi VLAN for the Mobile apps, I might need a firewall rule change for that.
