Hi,

We have a client on a startup plan. After reviewing phone options with them and working off the 3CX supported list (https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/), we purchased a Yealink W70.

Where do we add/configure the DECT base station so that we can provision it?

Thanks.
Eric

Unless you are using a external SBC, at this time DECT devices can't be router phones and router phones OR SBCs are needed with Startup.

We will be adding DECT support to StartUP soon, but for for now its not yet possible.

At the moment DECT can be used with dedicated 3CX servers.

That should really be reflected on the supported SIP Phones page.

We advised our client to purchase the supported phones which we now have to tell them isn't supported. Makes us and the solution look unprofessional/foolish and doesn't help their confidence in making a future upgrade sale from the free startup to a paid license.

@star1 Sorry for any inconvenience caused here! Currently StartUP can use a number of supported IP Phones, and very soon we will open up support for DECT phones too (including the Yealink W70). So if they already purchased the device, they will be able to use it as soon as our new update comes out.

Is this the only device they bought at the moment?

@bitn2 this is not correct, you can indeed use multiple types of IP Phones like the ones Update 6 has support for: https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-update-6/

All StartUP instances are Pro. The free tier is not available yet.

Thanks for the info. Is there an ETA on the next update?

This is a brand new install and this is the only device they bought so far.

Hi Eric,

We are actively working on this update currently, but I do not have an exact date. A very rough estimate would be a month if all testing goes well.

In the meantime, if I can make some suggestions: they can use the mobile app on their smartphone to use their extension, or if they are on PCs they can use the desktop app / web app with a headset.

Important Note for later
I should mention that even when the DECT phones are enabled in StartUP, they cannot work standalone. The customer will need to have at least one of the following to help "bridge" the W70 to 3CX:

- a 3CX SBC installed on a local PC or VM or Raspberry Pi 4
- or a Router phone that contains our built in SBC

Let me know if you have any additional questions regarding this.
