I've trawled through the forums and found a thread that describes the issue but the solutions there do not seem to address our issue and the thread is no longer open to further posting.
Anyway, I've followed the holiday documentation on this page. It works in the sense that the holiday message is played. However, aside from telling callers when we open again, we also used to be able to allow them to continue to punch in either a menu # or an extension to which they are redirected. When I use the holiday script, what happens is that the caller cannot enter a number until the holiday message is completed and they get redirected to the digital receptionist (if it makes a difference, the destinationDN in the script is set to 260 as well).
I am guessing that the only way to make this work is to record the holiday message such that it only contains the "we're out until so and so date" and leave out the menu portion ("for International press 1", etc). As it stands now, the holiday message goes "we're closed until so and so date, press 1 for International, 2 for Sports ...." and then when the script redirects them to extension 260, the "Office Open.wav" file then tells them "hello, welcome to so and so org, press 1 for International, 2 for Sports ..."
However, just checking with the forum if there is another option we've missed?
