Simple (?) question:
it seems, when I manually set this using the web interface of the phone to a custom value, it will persist even, when I reprovision the phone using the 3CX console.
Is this correct, or, is it possible that through an update or other event this setting will be reset to the value of 0?
And:
Is there an option to configure this directly on the phone with the volume key?

Possible using a custom template: https://www.3cx.com/docs/custom-ip-phone-templates/

Values should (although have been known to change in different firmware and 3CX versions):

#Configure the sending volume of Speaker, Handset and Headset. It ranges from 1 to 53, the default values are 25, 35, 29.
#Require reboot;
voice.handfree_send =
voice.handset_send =
voice.headset_send =

Also please consider the points in this string here in regards to getting the custom templates to take:

Thank you eddv123:
Yes a custom template will work. But I if I use a custom template phone auto-provisioning using 3cx will be impossible if I remember correct.
I could change this setting in the 3cx template, but then after any update I would have to reapply the changes again.

Yes that is the nature of custom templates unfortunately, you may need to adjust them with each new release.
