Is it possible to run two 3CX instances with a different static IP to receive calls on the same Yealink 41s phones located on premises?
both instances for 3CX will be running on a separate NUC or Pi.
Two 3CX instances will obviously have at least one separate DID.

Yes, this is possible, but you will have some limitiations.

You would have to setup the accounts manually on the phone for the two 3CX systems, - assign them to one of the dss keys. When you want to make the outgoing calls, you press the correct dss key.

You can not use the other dss keys, as you can not program them to point to the correct 3cx server

Not sure about address book, again which server do you point it to.

Many VoIp sets can be provisioned to allow each line key to be an extension from a different provider (PBX). Most would have to be provisioned manually, and support STUN, along with each line key having a different server address. Not sure if the Yealinks will do that. I use several Cisco SPA525G's that way.

@gluetome It is possible to do this, but you will have to do the configuration manually.

Hi gluetome,

Another way to it without any manual configuration on devices, is to bridge the two PBX systems, and have the DID of the 2nd PBX trunk, forward calls to an Extension of the first 1st PBX (where all the devices reside).

This way you get to keep auto-provisioning and avoid custom/manual work as any calls reaching the 2nd PBX will automatically end up in your 1st PBX to an extension, queue, ring group or DR of your choice.

Thanks, Guys
Bridge seems to be the way I would try first. In case you are wondering, I thought if this as an alternative to having a failover. We are a medical centre and most calls are incoming. I will publish the 2nd number for clients to call in and forward these to the main number. This will cover the internet or electricity outage. (4SC license $104 per year)

I'm not sure that bridging can work as a failover, since if either of the two PBX systems goes down, calls stop coming. The idea of having a failover is to have a replica PBX that is reachable by devices in case the main one goes down.

Also note that there's always the requirement and assumption that the phones remain powered, and connected to the network of course in cases of power or internet outage otherwise a failover server would become a moot point :)

Take a look at the below article if you haven't already done so:
