We recently went live with 3CX and are still making some tweaks to our system.

I've configured SMS to work with our system, and I'm able to use a DID number from our SIP trunk provider (Voxtelesys) to send and receive SMS messages to a 3CX extension. The SMS messages are successfully delivered to and can be sent from the 3CX Windows Desktop app as well as the 3CX Android app. However, the messages are not received by a Yealink T48U phone that is provisioned to that same extension. Voice calls and all other features are working perfectly.

I AM able to send text messages from one Yealink phone to another Yealink phone using the 3CX extension number, but when I do that, those messages do not show up in the Windows desktop or mobile apps. If I try to send an outbound SMS message from my Yealink phone to my cell phone, The Yealink says the SMS message was sent, but it never goes through in the 3CX call logs.

I've logged into the web interface of the phone to see if there is a setting that is missing to enable SMS, but I've not found anything related to this.

Has anyone else seen this behavior with the Yealink T4 series phones? I'm hoping there's an easy config change for this.

I think you need to use the webclient to send and receive sms, I know the phone has settings for sms, but I don't think 3cx will send or receive to a desk phone.

We do not provide SMS support for IP phones.

Only the 3CX clients can use those features.

Thanks, both, for the quick response.

JohnS, are there any future plans to support this?

It's one of those "nice to have" features when there are no other alternatives for messaging (especially in the past).

But with the Desktop / Web / Mobile apps available (which are much easier to use) I doubt this will ever go on the roadmap..

Makes sense - thank you.
