I moved an on-premises system to hosted over the weekend and upgrade to v20 (the third one I have done in the last month). I went to setup a Fanvil v65 as a router (also tried a X4U-V2) and it show this error in the log when it tries to register

If I uncheck this option under the user it will register the phone, but it does not show up as an SBC for my other phones.

The phone works fine when routed through a windows SBC. This system is one of the original on-premise systems I ever setup over 10 years ago. It was on version 18.6 before I moved to hosted and upgraded to v20. I have compared my core system and user settings to other working hosted systems, and I cannot seem to find a setting that would block a phone like this.

I cannot validate if this was checked off or not on the system in question, but I think I may have early on, not fully understanding what it was. This screen shot is from another system I have not moved to v20.

Is this still an option to turn off/on in v20?

If you are using 3CX hosting they don't support STUN. In v20 STUN requires a custom template anyway.

Ensure you have the correct/latest firmware before provisioning the phone: https://www.3cx.com/docs/phone-firmwares/. Incorrect/old firmware can trigger a block of the IP due to the failures.

thanks for the reply. I am not trying to setup STUN, but hoping to figure out why it keeps registering the block error on the v20 logs. My thought process for the second post is that something was turned on/off prior to v20 that cannot be turned off/on in v20 because the option is no longer valid. I manually updated to the latest firmware on the fanvil v65 2.12.17.1 with these instructions https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/firmware-update-fanvil/. Factory reset the phone, deleted the IP phone from 3cx user. Then walked through setting up and IP phone and manually provisioning the phone with the provisioning link with these instrucitons https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/fanvil-v-series/#h.wmsoriilsyve. It still registers as a local phone, not a router phone. Any other thoughts?

We normally use Yealink so no direct experience with that phone. You should not need to manually set anything though.

Is this the first phone for this extension? 3CX won't let you add a router phone if it's the second phone...need to add it first then re-add the original.

It is the only phone on the ext. When I deleted the phone there was not another phone listed. It showed this prompt to add a phone:1715023293159.png

OK but then does that offer to set it up as a router phone?

It behaves like the other ones I have done in the past. I selected the phone model, entered the MAC and then selected Local LAN/VPN with phone system DNS name. then went to the v65 phone and entered the provisioning link and rebooted.

You need to add the phone and in the next menu select Connect Directly, this will add the phone as router phone.

That was in V18 only.

In V20 you can add multiple phones on your extension, whether router / normal type.

The first one does not have to be a router, you can mix them up as you like.
