Firmware Upgrade of Fanvil Phones
The following document will outline how to upgrade the firmware of a Fanvil IP phone using the device’s own web interface. This step is required prior to the provisioning of the phone to ensure that the minimum requirements and features are implemented into the device's firmware.
Important: If your phone’s firmware is too old, it may not accept the latest version supported by 3CX. You’ll need to contact the manufacturer to get the required intermediate versions and apply them in sequence. The device won't upgrade unless each required intermediate version is installed in the right order.
Check/Validate Firmware Version
In order to check the firmware version of your Fanvil IP phone:
- Point your web browser to your phone’s IP address.
- Login to your account (default user/password: admin/admin).
- Navigate to “Information >> System >> Software.” This number is your device’s running firmware.
Upgrade Firmware
In order to manually upgrade your Fanvil’s firmware:
- Visit our page with the latest Phone Firmware
- Download the firmware image file .zip/.z for your phone model and save it in your drive.
- Point your web browser to your phone’s IP address.
- Navigate to “Upgrade >> System >> System Image File.”
- Click on “Select,” choose the firmware image file saved previously, and press “Upgrade.”
Note: Do not unzip the “.z” files, this is a special format used by Fanvil and must be uploaded as-is.
