Update 6 Alpha - The Next Generation 3CX!

The new group functionality is great, it would be good to be able to create group auto-assignment rules. E.g. auto-assignment rule for group 1 says that any extensions created with 1xx as the extension number will be added to group 1. Auto-assignment rule for group 2 says that any extensions created with 2xx as the extension number will be added to group 2. Etc.

This would just reduce the extension creation process by 1 extra step as we wouldn't have to manually assign it to the proper group. It's probably quite a bit more work so I wouldn't expect it in this update or anytime soon, but it would be cool to see.

When provisioning in the Webclient it forces an email and a 3cx id to be created,
Can this be made to not be mandatory?

- When adding a phone from the web client's Admin interface, you cannot add a phone to use as Direct SIP. Will that option be added or is registering via Direct SIP going to be removed?

most likely this will be removed as SBC is a better option to use
Please tell me the direct SIP will be removed much later than U6?

I will need transition time to get 200+ phones off Direct SIP and onto SBC Via Phone

At launch, the following phones are “SBC capable”:

  • Yealink T53, T53C, T53W, T54W, T57W
  • Fanvil V64, V65, V62, X4U-V2, X5U-V2, X6U-V2, X7-V2, X7C-V2, X210-V2 and X210i-V2

We will try to bring more in the future, but the models that aren't powerful enough will not make it into the list
Yealink T4 range to have SBC support or are they not powerful enough. Reason i ask is if they are completely ruled out it might change our minds on new installs and handsets we recommend. thanks

@Nick Galea I see groups can now have there own holiday periods.woohoo.
Will the Groups be able to control Open (IN) and Closed (OUT) by codes or buttons like the global system?
Like the global system *64 option to Force 3CX IN or OUT of Office. This is common for users that have migrated from a key phone system.
Common use case: So the call is being answered by single receptionist and then they can't answer phones for whatever reason, so they press a button or dial code and the routing changes. So each group then could change "Office open route", "office is closed route" or even "break route" quickly.

This then leads to the question is there any hope of more routing options in groups then the 3?

Thanks

I would recommend the T5x series regardless as they will remain in support longer before EOL
3CX can't Guarantee the features on the T4's to work, plus the firmware is custom for the T5's so significant effort is probably required for the T4's that it might not be worth it

I comeback and I realise that we can't create a user without a email :

This will be really a thing ??? Or just a bug ?
Hi,
In Update 6 the "Send email notification only" and "Send email notification on missed call" features are enabled for newly created users

This is why you can't add a new user without specifying his email address.
You still can disable the mentioned features and add a user without an email address specified.

Wow, okay. Didn't see this coming ! haha

Thank you, understood !

His system is probably set to Email Voicemails, so in that case (for a number of versions) an email is required. Just put any account that doesn't exist - [email protected]
If you use fake emails the system will try to send you your welcome email to an invalid destination.
The 3CX SMTP will ban you, so either use the real user's email, or use your own one if this is not a user extension (ie. test extensions or other).

Hi all, can’t try this out until next week but can anyone tell me if it’s possible to set group specific holidays?

Would nicely complement the multi-branch capabilities to have current global holidays that affect the whole company (eg: Christmas, national days) and then branch specific local holidays where only specific groups close (state/province holidays, show days etc). Have to use a CFD for that at the moment.
Yep, groups can have their own holiday settings

@tronic you are able to force in or out of office from the webclient if you are a receptionist or manager. You click on your picture and select "override office hours" and you can set for how long

In regards to more routing options, we might introduce a fourth..... for holidays

@MidiTélécom the idea is also to allow users to login with email and password as opposed to extension number and password which is less secure...

You mean STUN? Yes its in the management console and it will work for a long time. You are supporting 200 remote phones on STUN? I would think that a few SBCs will reduce your support time big time though.

Just looking for clarification here, does this mean you are removing the current admin panel, or just adding functionality to the webclient?
Over time yes, we will move all management console functions to the webclient and update and simplify the procedure to do something in the process. Clearly there is still some way to go.

Got it, thank you.

With the shift to administering from web client, is it going to be possible to see overviews from the root? Such as group opening times, routing etc? Im still trying to get my head around the new webclient admin. If I have 3 companies on 1 phone system, I can have 3 groups independant from one another? is MCM a manual parameter change in U6?

Hi !
About the new Router phone functionality, (which is a real big improvement though) Will it be possible to have a supported phone as the main router / SBCphone and to use other phones as if we have a traditional SBC (for example a yealink T46 or W70B) ?
Thanksssss

@kieferschild You can have the 3 groups independent from each other but the extensions will still be visible to between groups. MCM parameter is only reserved for Hosted by 3CX, i.e. you can not host your own 3CX StartUP. As far as root user goes, you have to assign one of the extensions System Owner rights and they can see overviews. In future there will be more overviews yes.

@Gbot@Okam Thanks! You mean whether you can reoute EOL phones that are manually provisioned via an SBC on a phone? yes you can, you just have to specify the SBC on the phone as the proxy....

A user with only permission to "monitor has access to reports..." enabled under system management, it look like it still gives full access to everything in the new admin web client area (manage other extensions, trunks, call routing, everything)?!?
They do not - please check again? The admin Icon in the bottom left of the WC does not appear for them when they are set like this unless you have some other options enabled beyond what you told us.

  • Office Hours looks broken: You select a number and it doesn't show its configured for doing anything in the web client, however, it it configured already in the main management console.
  • Generally just lots of things out of sync with whats actually configured.
Not sure what you meant here, give us an example?

@Nick Galea not only EOL phone, just not supported phones to use the router function, for example the DECT Yealink W70B,
So in this case i can put a Yealink T54W as the main router phone and use this as a SBC for other phones right ?

@Gbot@Okam Yes exactly as per the dialog and manuals, just one SBC phone rest can be normal phones.
