Hello,

This is our system info:
  • Annual Pro v16.0.6.655
  • Debian 9
  • On-premise
As can be seen from the version number, we have not updated the instance for a while due to certain issues at work. We turned the auto-update feature on to let the system update gradually from the current version to the latest stable release but it failed because of unmet dependencies (libfreeimage3). I have attached the update log. Is there a way we can update without having to do a full backup and restore?

You can give this KB a try and let me know how it goes
Thank you Chris. The first method worked to download the package, will attempt to do the upgrade later tonight after office hours and see how it goes.

The update via management console worked this morning, we're now at v16.0.8.9.
Still a long line of updates left to reach the latest version but that's okay, I'm planning to let auto-updates run every day outside office hours till we catch up. Thank you for your help.

Glad to hear that you're on the right track @Suri. If you require anything further let us know!

Hi, is v18 still a beta update? We're currently at 16.0.8.16 and v18 is only available for manual download and upgrade

v18 is on Update 2. Definitely not beta. But if you are thinking of going to v18 you might be better off doing a fresh install from the latest ISO.

Is there an option for auto-update for v18? We have a on-prem physical server so wanted to try and upgrade automatically like with the previous versions.

3CX doesn't auto-update major versions. There *should* be an update available in the management console to manually update to Debian 10/v18 but as you already noticed being behind a bit caused a little wrinkle in previous updates, a fresh start is not a bad idea.

Thank you for the replies @cobaltit @ChrisC_3CX
I was hoping there was a recommended way for remote upgrade since physical access is a bit limited currently but seems like the best option is to reinstall and restore. We'll try to schedule it soon and will update the thread if there's any issues.

Please do! We'll be waiting for an update.

Hello, just wanted to provide an update and close this thread. We were only able to perform the upgrade yesterday, had to keep rescheduling due to covid. So instead of putting it off any longer, we decided to try upgrading via the management console from the updates page. It took around 20 minutes. To minimize downtime or in case of any issues, we had a VM with the latest iso installed and a backup of the live instance. Thankfully the whole process went smoothly. Thank you for your help.

Glad to hear it went smoothly. Got a few to do this weekend so hoping for the same.
