I am on v3 - 16.0.3.676 and my server is 2012 Essentials
It appears update 4 requires Windows 10, 2016, 2019.

So, I need to update my server to one of those Operating Systems.
Can I use an update 3 backup when installing update 4 on the new Windows 10 machine?
Or is there somewhere I can download the update 3 full installation package, restore my backup then upgrade to update 4?

What is the proper procedure here to update OS and PBX. I have not had to update my OS before when doing a 3cx update.

you can use an existing backup to upgrade to the latest version

So an update 3 backup will import into update 4 installation.
thanks.
Perfect time to do this... getting about 6 calls a day right now. :)

Why not escape from windows (licence cost) and install iso debian?

Because I have zero experience with Debian and would not put myself in that situation.

I'm not with a lot of experience in linux too, but with lots of things done on SBC ,PBX on premise and cloud , it's not difficult and never been in no way road .
Linux give more from same hardware ressources .

Xeon E3-1220 v3 3.10ghz processor
16gb ram

32SC Pro license

CPU and RAM have had no issues running Windows and 3cx. No need to change... :)

Ok , your hardware is good, but Windows license is always a need, so a cost too, no?

Update 4 doesn't need 2016. I believe the requirements were update for Update 5 which will because of the HTTP/2 for Apple push

From U5 of version 16, we only support on Windows the following OS:
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server 2019
the main driver for this an increased incompatibility with the current world such as
HTTP/2, TLS 1.3, Secure TLS Chippers etc. Apples new PUSH service will be only available in HTTP/2 for example.
