Updates & Apps with 3CX Free Edition

Hello there,
I am currently running the Professional edition in a trial mode and soon I will be downgraded to the free version (4SC Standard).
I just received this email from 3CX advising my maintenance is about to expire and in the email, it says "By not having active maintenance you will lose out on 3CX updates, web conferencing, smartphone apps, FQDN service."

Meanwhile, this page: https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/ says that the apps are included in the standard edition.

Can someone please offer some clarification on this and whether or not updates are included in the free edition. I heavily depend on and love the 3CX apps so need to know whether I am going to lose these.

You aren't going to lose them. The maintenance is technically expiring for the PRO edition you are currently trialing. It will then revert to STD so you are good to go.

Correct except it's 8SC for the FREE edition.

After your 40 days in PRO your key becomes the free tier which is in v16 an 8 SC Standard.
Annual Licenses, which the trial consists of, never lose maintenance (or in this case called subscription as maintenance is used in relation to perpetual licensing) due to the automatic downgrade to the free tier.

therefore, you will remain to have access to the 3CX Apps but on a limited PBX feature set. If this is enough for your business - nothing more has to be done. If you see you req. any feature from the PRO later you can just upgrade the plan at any time in the future.
