Updating to new 3CX

We have recently had to buy a new 3CX license and get updated to the new system.

We have been told that we could take a backup of the old system. Update and then import the backup.

I can't see an import putting in the new version of 3CX, can you confirm how I can import this 3CX back?

Did you replace the license on the old system? Not sure I understand why you’d need a new key.

In step 5 here you can restore. Note it restores the FQDN and key as well.

I don't have much experience with 3CX.

The issue I was having is that I couldn't update the license in the system, so I have setup a new 3CX Hosted system which I believe was correct unless it wasn't.
We needed to get a new license key as the old one had expired.

If that was incorrect can I close down the new portal I have made and try and update the license on the old one?

The old system is Version 18.0 Update 9.
I have a new system on version 20 with the new license.

Was that what I was supposed to do?
The Version 18 wouldn't take the new License Key

@Hackett it should be easier to upgrade your old system. Here is an upgrade guide to help you with the necessary steps. You may also want to check out our short video tutorial as well.

Regarding your V18 - you cannot activate a V20 license in a previous version such as V18. That's why you were having issues.

Am I able to shut down the active V20 one I made as that is what I thought I needed to do?

The system doesn't allow me to update to a new Version, I need to get this setup as soon as possible.

That guide says to Upgrade the version through the "Updates" option.



There is no option too in the Updates menu.

Is your v18 license showing as active now?

You’ll also need the prerequisites, such as the system owner with unique email.

@Hackett - If your old license has expired, you will need to renew it first. Then you should have the option to upgrade to v20.
