Hi there,
I am currently managing a Debian 9.9 installed v16 installation with the above current version. When I go to the updates page, I only see 16.0.3.676 as the next update, although I know there is a SP6 version.
When I tell it to install the update, it flicks me straight to the login page, and I can re-login without having to wait for the upgrade to complete. I upgraded a Windows version (v15 to v16, so much more complicated) last night and I had to walk through each of the updates, and wait for the server to reload, causing a wait before I could login, so I assume the same happens on Debian.
I have restarted the server and changed the logging to medium so I can see why it is is being blocked. I would prefer to do the upgrade via the administration shell rather than going to the terminal as I have seen notes that this can be fraught with danger.
Can anyone tell me where I find the logs to determine why the update is not completing?

Hi @Hazmoid

Once you click update and it logs you out, don't log back in and wait a while to receive an email from your PBX.

It will inform you whether the update succeeded or failed (with reason stated). If you don't receive an email within 15 mins (normally takes 5-10 mins) then we can look further into it.

Make sure you have access to the Admin email defined in the management console, and also make sure the PBX can send emails.

So the email came through and confirmed that the update failed.
A problem occurred and 3CX Phone System was not updated successfully.

Your installation at xxxxxxxxx.3cx.com.au encountered a problem and the update was not successful. The system was rolled back to the previous version.

Attached is the update log files which contain information about why the update failed.

Try and perform the update one more time. Chances are that the update will succeed. If not, contact support and send the log files.

3CX recommends that your installation is always running the latest version. In addition to potential security fixes, updates include new or enhanced features, better compatibility with SIP Trunks and IP Phones. These will improve the stability of your system.

the update log says "Update failed. An update process is already running now."
:(

"Update failed. An update process is already running now."

If that is the only thing the log contained, reboot the machine and then run the update again and wait for the next email.

Rebooted the machine and re-ran the update. Never received the update completion email. That was 12 hours ago.
This morning when I looked at the server the following processes are still running. Note the update still appears to be running.

This upgrade has not progressed. The upgrade process still appears to be running although it has not upgraded the PBX. I can kill the process but I need to get this upgraded, and personally, rebuilding the PBX from an ISO image is way more bother than I need, unless that is the only way to complete the upgrade. :(

Is this install from the 3CX ISO or custom build? Are you running other software?

There are several threads on this forum relating to this - have to had a read?

some suggest it's a network issue - are you able to reboot networking equipment?

Another suggestion is to run following commands in SSH as root:

backup 3CX first - this is at your own risk.

Code:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
