I currently have a perpetual 8 Sim Pro System and Maintenance expiring 9/11/2030.. I want to upgrade to 32 Enterprise.. But says I have over 400 days in maintenance .. So does this mean I can't upgrade

You should be upgrade for the difference in cost between 2 editions + maint days. Maintenance expiry date should stay the same.

Should…. That is the question. It won’t let me upgrade from the portal as it says I have over 400 days in maintenance. But as I said prior I see that the maintenance cost now is the same price as an annual. So what now is the advantage of having a preputal license if the maintenance is going to cost the exact same as an annual license

A partner should be able to upgrade SC with nothing more then your license key and likely save you $$$'s as well.

If you need a no hassle partner - PM me.

As for maint now being the same as annual, yes, 3CX would like you to buy annual instead of perpetual. In fact they removed some perpetual SKUs (under 32SC I think), offer a free year for trading in a perpetual license (where they give you that SC that you trade in a free annual 1 year license), etc. They really want you to buy annual.

Hi @Heath,

In this case, you'll need to trade in to Annual and from there upgrade to 32SC.

Yes, you can trade-in the license, upgrade it and get a year free.

However, it would not be Perpetual anymore. You cannot upgrade a Perpetual license any longer.

Please confirm this. As on the portal it won’t let me upgrade due to having over 400 days left in maintenance

Why is 3CX getting away from preputal licenses. By trading it means that the value of our license is worth zero. When I bought the license 2 years ago I was told I would save $$$ due to reduced maintenance over time. Also what about my maintenance that I already paid for I have 9 years left till 2030.

You can DM me or @SweetAction with your license key and we'll check on our end what options are available.

You paid for 10 years upfront? That should be added to your annual.

The perpetual licenses are no good for 3CX nor for partners, and to be honest, you didn't save a lot by going perpet.

Trading-in the license should give you 1-year free over what you already have remaining but if your portal says 400 days, where's the 10 years then?

@Frederick Marcoux

I did the math back in 2018 and buying perpetual was cheaper around year 8. So it make sense for a company invested for the long haul to do so.

3CX changed their pricing a few months ago and now it's never cheaper to buy perpetual *if you will keep maintenance active*. This is likely by design. Only real use case for perpetual I think is the client who doesn't want to pay maintenance. Or companies that insist on buying perpetual.

Problem is that maintenance cannot be upgraded like a SC can so if you have prepaid maintenance and upgrade, you lose that investment. This applies even to Annual licenses (per 3CX)

Good to know! Thanks for clarifications! I never sold any perpetual lol I don't even tell my customers they exist.

At the time I was sold the preputal I was told by the 3cx salesman that in the long run I would save $$$ by going preputal. He said with the cost of the preputal license plus maintenance vs annual the break even would be in 8-1/4 years and by preputal license I didn’t have to worry about any increases. Well I guess that was a complete lie. So I trade in my preputal for annual and only get 1 year maintenance. Whoppie. That certainly doesn’t account for what I paid and he value of a preputal. Seems 3cx devalued the preputal licenses. As far as the 400 The portal says over 400 days. When I attempted to upgrade it said I couldn’t due to having over 400 days left on the maintenance

To be honest I fail to see where exactly 3CX "lied". You paid for a perpetual 8SC PRO and that's what you have. Upgrading is completely different story.

My issue is I was told by 3cx when I bought the preputal that it would save me $$$ in the long run. Break even was in about 8.25 years that I wouldn’t be subject to price increase if I was annual and the maintenance would be the same cost for life. And I have that in writing from 3cx sales. They lied that I wouldn’t be subject to the price increase in the maintenance. Which I am. And lied on the cost of the upgrade as it was a fixed costs. Which again I have in writing from 3cx sales.

Hi @Heath,

I don't think anyone lied here, if you upgrade from your 8SC PRO perpetual license to your 8SC PRO annual license, you won't pay anything at all and you'll gain 1 extra year of maintenance.

However if you upgrade from 8SC to 32SC as you'd like, you will be required to pay for the increase in maintenance cost from 8SC to 32SC. They're not all the same. So hopefully this answers your question, feel free to ask me anything else you'd like, I'm at your disposal.

I have info in writing from 3cx sales at the time I purchased the license that annual maintenance fee was fixed as long as I own the system. So there is the lie.

and you say I pay nothing at all if I convert annual. That just says what the value of the preputal license is. Compare that to what was paid at the time of purchase. By paying the same cost as an annual really devalued one who has a preputal license.

Hi @Heath,

I understand what you're saying. In this case I'd suggest contacting your regional channel manager to clear this up. However know that you won't be losing any of your maintenance by upgrading.

I don’t even know who that is. I bought my license before 3cx went to channel
