V15.5, Update 4 BETA: Voicemail to text transcription, queue ringtones and more…

This isn't 3CX's fault, since they can't control what Azure returns, but I must say, the transcription is *terrible* in the test I performed this morning.

The text I read:
3CX is a unified communications solution that will help you work more effectively. Besides using your office extension from your deskphone, you can take calls from anywhere using the softphones for iOS, Android, Mac and Windows

The transcription returned by email:
Please deactivate location solution that will help you work more effectively. You're the best phone you can take anyway you spell phone Android or windows.

Here is a recording of the voicemail :

Hi Ivan

The file uploaded to Vocaroo is not the original voicemail file - that's just a sound hosting website, and they've used their own format. I am more than happy to email you the original voicemail email with attachment if you like?

Language was set to English (United Kingdom)

Codec - I don't know which codec would have been used to place the call. The call was using internal extensions only, and the handset that made the call has GSM-FR as the first priority codec.

That said, I don't think there is much 3CX can do with this, since you've passed a reasonable quality audio file to Azure, who have returned the best they could?

I can acknowledge that this specific mechanism has room for improvement. If and when it will be changed is currently unknown, but there have been some internal discussions that have touched on this topic.

@NickD_3CX

Thank you for letting us know you guys are aware of this. We offer our own SIP trunking and it's annoying that we have to do work around for 3CX that we don't have to do for other PBX products or most SIP endpoints. Definitely important for us

This happens when you transcribe.. Accents, dialects etc.. I heard your prompt..
YOu can try and set it to us - see it it makes an improvement.. Anyway - its microsoft speech - not much we can do..

Hi, PreviouslyAsterisk.
No need in file, I just needed to know where this sample rate came from. Thanks for the info!

after upgrade not working on grandstream 2160 BLF keys

Amazing Update!
I'm eagerly trying to use the transcription feature. I created the Bing Speech API key and copied it into 3CX as per the documentation. I also waited over 10 minutes because on the Azure site where it shows the keys it says they may not work for up to 10 minutes. When I receive a voicemail to email it looks like it did before but it has a line "Transcription:" but no transcription after. Speech Language set to "English (United States)" and even tried restarting the 3CX services. Also tried "English (Canada)" but switched to US when testing didn't work because I figured that would be more likely to work.

The phone provisioning options get better and better -- thank you. However, for it to be truly useful for large deployments we need to be able to do multi extension edits and global system defaults would also be awesome. For the small sites it's not too bad to go extension to extension and set the settings. But for large sites it's too much work and prone to human error.

Did you ever solve this? We have the same problem here and have tried all that you have stated. Still, the emails have an empty line for the transcription..

Yes. Make sure if using windows for 3cx pc to use Windows 8 or higher. likely also Server 2012 or higher. My pbx was wi7, upgraded to win10 and started working right away. they updated documentation to mention win8 minimum for transcription.

I've had a play with the Voicemail transcription this afternoon. Well spoken UK English with south east dialect. No background noise, simple words and phrases spoken slowly as well as normal speed. The results were absolutely abysmal. (Also had my wife leave a few tests.) In some cases, quite a few words missing and the context was totally incorrect. Again, sorry that this is down to the Bing VTT engine being poor, but to be gently critical - 3CX chose to use this engine.

Please consider allowing customers to hook in to other services too - at least then we'd have a choice of which one to go for.

I think it's so poor, that it's be an embarrassment to switch this on - it's a bit of a gimmick that won't look professional in our business at all.

Again, 3CX, please don't take this the wrong way - I am not being critical of you.

Thanks much. ...now upgrading from Win7... Assume this issue is solved / fixed.

I would love to give this a go but I cannot upgrade my Standard license to Pro because I have support, so I guess I'm SOL until my rep responds.
