Our v16 license was due to renew last week. During that time I logged in to my Dashboard on my Raspberry PI-powered PBX and tried to refresh.

I received an error message about not being able to reach activation.3cx.com.

Not worried about it, I left things alone over the weekend, assuming it would update on the 15th.

Came in this morning to find out our license expired and our system reverted back to the free version.

Tried to refresh the license, same error, can't reach the activation server.

Opened a browser...nope, can't reach it.

Pinged it from my PC...got the IP address 151.80.125.88, but it timed out.

Found a few mentions of changing primary DNS to 8.8.8.8...reboot...still can't hit the licensing server.

Found a mention of disabling IPv6...reboot...success!

As an aside, had someone else try to hit the activation server from outside our network, and they got time outs too.

Not entirely sure why this might be the case, but just wanted to put it out there.

Thanks,

Dion

Hi Dion,

The server will not reply to pings or browser requests so this is normal.

Your system could not resolve the IP and hence the server was unreachable.

What version is your PBX?

Sorry, I generically said "v16" in my post, but it is 16.0.1.273 Enterprise.

Not sure why we would not be able to resolve it from 2 distinct networks. We're not blocking anything here, and our IT company wouldn't be blocking it.
