Solved V16 - Scheduled backup delete all V15 files

Hi,
i've now upgraded most of my pbxs to V16 and i'm disapointed today to see first scheduled V16 backup deleted all my existing previous backup file in V15.5.

My files are stored on ftp outside 3CX, so i don't understand why backup process remove all the files, i think this is very dangerous if something wrong with new backup/ restore and you want to use previous file.

My schedule backup task is running over 6 weeks so i've always 6 different backup files for each of my 3cx .

Can you do something in emergency to stop deleting files without any admin asking and let files where they are.

I'm 99% certain I didn't have this problem but I upgraded during the beta. Please confirm that your backup retention didn't get set to 1 somehow to explain why older backups may have been purged. And please confirm the files were actually deleted and not just 'hidden' in the 3CX backup view.

Yes that's it but, it's a trap before upgrading my set was 6 and not 1 so i've lost all the files , not serious !!!

files are really deleted i search directly on FTP Folders; in fact scheduled task has not been restored from previous one eexisting in V15.5 but completly new with nothing common with what it was.

Hmm. I haven't seen anyone else post this so I'm thinking maybe you changed it by accident, perhaps a browser autofill or something. Can you post your exact setup (OS, how you upgraded, etc) and I'll see if I can replicate on some of our upgrades.

The only change have done is to do a complete manual backup on local 3cx on W10 desktop before upgrading to V16
So no i didn't change anything in scheduled tasks, and this is the same on all 3cx i upgraded (only windows affected not debian)
on V16 debian that's good

For affected 3CX , OS is Windows 10 V1809 on premise, classic process to upgrade:

1. complete v15.5 backup done localy on W10 desktop
2. uninstall V15.5 with control panel
3. Reboot computer
4. direct DL on 3CX website 3CX V16 exe for Windows
5. Install V16
6. Restore backup during install
7. done

Is the location change from FTP to local when i manually backup may have deleted scheduled task without any warning, was out my idea to check this only changing where to manually backup

Hi! I can confirm this does happen, the Scheduled Backup options will be changed and as a result, if the set backup time comes, the previous backups in the folder will be removed.

We have mapped this on our internal tracking system and will look to correct/improve this.

Is there anyway to avoid this or do you have fixed this in phonesystem v16 for windows file.
I've other to upgrade to V16

This would need a fix in the way the Installation Wizard reads the backup.
Now that you know this though, once you install V16 from a V15.5 backup, you can go to the Backup settings and change them back to the settings you want.

I've noticed strange thing also in latest V16 windows install, at the end of installation after display of credentials etc.. i've no more shortcut on windows desktop coming with 3cx icone to access MC, can it be related to same problem?

V16 does not generate a shortcut to the desktop during the installation, it's unrelated to the backup issue
