V16 Update 5 Supercharges Remote Working with New iOS App Supporting Video

Hello @neville,

By default, if you utilize the click2talk via the Management Console for Queues, you do not see the option for audio/video unless someone from the queue takes ownership of the chat conversation.

On WordPress/Code Generator, you get the "Mode" option where you can configure it to ignore queue ownership or not.
 
I take ownership and can chat. However, there is never an option to elevate to a phone call on either side. However, on my side, I do get the option to start a WebMeeting.

I agree the need to update - we are on release 5 but iOS App can not be downloaded yet unless you are on test flight. I know most of this issue has to do with Apple and approval. But now users are calling asking why their app isn't working (16.0.2).
 
My understanding is the old app works, just no video? Or is it not working at all?
 
I've told them to just forget it and the update will be available in a couple weeks. I looked at call logs and no one has been using it anyway during work from home. Must be just using their cell phone. Not sure why these 3 people suddenly opened the app all on the same day.
 
@craigreilly but do you know why your users have a problem using current release for IOS App? It should work. So if you have any information share me this info..
 
I can try loading again - but my users are all working at home and isolating.
Im not overly concerned.
 
We've had a number of users (iOS, not on testflight) have the Waiting For Network issue, this is on two totally separate installs/companies. Removing their account on their iPhone and re-scanning QR code comes up with cannot connect to provisioning server. However, if I restart the 3CX server - boom, all is well again. I wonder if after the update, the server just needed to restart again? Everything is working now - but it did take a restart.
 
the sound of the keyboard buttons depends on the volume of the call. when the call is at a high volume, the keyboard sounds are deafening. if you reduce the volume of the call, the keyboard sounds are normal. will this be fixed before the stable version is released, or should it be?

I always use the following rule of thumb: after a firmware or program change of any kind, I always restart the computer even though it was restarted.
Because of this, I rarely, if ever, experience problems after an update.

The touchtones volume will be much lower in the next TF release, comparable with native dialer's.

Hi Guys,

Given that we are in various states of lockdown, many of my clients have placed a moratorium on software updates to ensure stability of systems during the period that we are not allowed on-site if something goes wrong. Therefore, we cannot update 3CX from the current 16.0.4 to 16.0.5 - this may remain the case for weeks, especially since they will likely target upstream OS updates / security fixes first once the lockdown eases.

If I understand correctly, users updating their iOS apps will mean that they can no longer receive calls while working from home.

If so, how do we ensure that they cannot update their iPhones, and become unable to make or receive calls?

I initiated the update to 16.0.5 on Saturday and this morning nobody can access the System Console!

After updating to 16 V5 (coming from 16 V4) I experience a high load of user complaints.
V4 worked pretty stable. Almost no new IP blacklistings as well.

Directly after updating to V5 I got lots of unauthorized connection attempts. (No, not from users, I checked the all. All registration trys are non-valid,not coming from existing users.) Actually I get like 5 new IPs blacklisted per day.

User complaints are mostly pointing to too low volume all in a sudden in midst of a call (we are using Fanvil X3S phones, but some users also experience that using Webclient / Windows client and USB headset).
In midst of call users cannot hear the other part anymore. Volume is SUPERLOW. Can only be solved by rebooting users phone.


There are some other issues as well, but as mainly all users are working from home their problems may be found on client side as well.So I would address the LOW-volume issue here only as this happens to various users and just came up with V5.

Now waiting for Windows Client and iOS App for V5 as well. Would be good if they could be released to stable branch asap.

Using 16V5 on Azure cloud. 3CX image, so no self install.

Ensure nginx is still running along with the rest of the services.

In addition, you can also RDP into your Windows Server and try to access the console manually opening a browser from inside the VM and pointing it to http://localhost:5000/
Assuming you kept the default ports during installation - 5000 is a local access HTTP port, and 5001 is HTTPS).

If this works using HTTP and 5000, then your server is indeed up and running, but not accessible from the outside via HTTPS and 5001.

Otherwise start a new thread in General forum

Hi @weimerd

1. If you did not update, you would still see the attempts when the attacker started trying. This is a random occurrence, and the attacker will move on to some other IP once their script stops sending requests to your IP. For now you are safe because they are blocked.

2. For the low volume on handsets and clients you should troubleshoot it separately. Please start a new thread in the General Forum so we can look at it.
 
NGinx is running fine, as are all 3cx services. Borwsing to localhost:5000 inside the VM produces the same result as from outside on 5001 - we simply get a blank page.
Tried restarting NGinx - no change.
Interestingly, attempting to access webclient (from 5000 locally or 5001 outside) results in a 403 access denied error.
