Where do we find / how do we create extension statistics reports with more advanced filters now? We had many recurring daily reports configured to filter calls to external exceeding 5 seconds and start with ... numbers. I cannot find our existing reports, nor how to create a new report with such filters.

Hi Paul,

As far as I am aware it is something that isnt currently working in V20 and looking around on forum posts it was informed that it would be in V20 Update 1 which was announced to be ready before the end of January 2024 but still no news or update. We too were surprised that V20 was rolled out as a final version and only after updating did we see the forum post stating it shouldnt be used for Production (it would have been nice to see that in the update page before we updated or a communication from 3CX via email or something).

Long story short, we are also waiting for V20 Update 1 so that we can use the reports that we were using back in V18.

Ridiculous! The v20 update is a mess! Where was the 3CX notification not to upgrade if you rely on ... XYZ? We're entirely Mac-based, so we also struggle with the lack of a MacOS desktop client in the new version. For a communication technology company, 3CX aren't great at communicating!

Hi Paul,

I totally understand where you are coming from, we too have noticed a lack of features that were previously available in V18, from a personal point of view it looks like it has been a rushed job. I just hope that the updates fix some of features that were previously available and bugs that we have found.

@paulsummers & @Triheads, while waiting for 3CX to complete the v20 Reporting, you could try out the JEDWare for your Agent and all other reporting - then you are on your way and don't have to use gunpowder on frustrations.

Why would we want to pay the additional cost for a third-party tool when the 3CX product has always provided exactly what we require? Removing key features from a product upgrade with a promise to re-add them in '1-2 months' smacks of rushed. Also, Jed, gunpowder on frustrations ... ?

it’s in their blog posts such as https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v20-upgrade-checklist-faq/ and a few prior. Blog posts appear here in https://www.3cx.com/community/forums/posts-articles-news/ as well. One can Watch that forum category and have it send email notifications of new posts.

I don’t disagree with the labeling of the prerelease software in 3CX itself; that’s come up several times in the past few months.

I think this is a bit unfair, saying it was rushed.
I agree, there were features that missed the first release of V20. But I guess this is where the reseller should have been actively involved. What was included in the update, what wasn't and what would be affected was clearly spelt out in forums and blog posts. This is why certain clients of ours are still on version 18.
To me, it seems like @paulsummers reseller failed them.

From the outside, it looks like all they did was a new admin interface. But in reality they re-wrote the core of the system as this was holding back a lot of new features they want to add. As the core was redone, this means that all the features that talk to this core needed to be redone. This is a monumental task. They were basically writing code for both v18 and v20 at the same time, so things would work on both. So at some point they had to rip off the band-aid, which meant that a select few things were delayed and had to be taken out of the first release v20. But at least now they don't need to spend time on keeping V18 live and can focus on finishing v20.

I concur with @tronic that it is the responsibility of the 3CX partner to be aware of and inform the end-users of the limitations when migrating from V18 to V20. 3CX has a long history of releasing a new version and gradually reaching feature parity with the previous version sometime AFTER the initial release. It is usually in the SP2-SP3 timeframe that feature parity is reached with the previous version. This is very typical for 3CX.

You should get a Tesla. Most updates are, 1 step forward and 2 backwards. lol xD xD

Personally, I would love to have a Tesla. However, I'm waiting for the soon-to-be-released improved battery technology coming to Tesla from CTL. I think the same critical thinking process can be employed when making 3CX upgrade decisions. Be informed before you act.

But, in retrospect, I do think that 3CX could communicate more successfully when naming new versions. Perhaps including the phrase "technology preview" in the name, or or something similar, would clue in customers that there is more work to be done. But being honest with myself, Nick is a far more successful businessman than I will ever be, so suggestions from me may not hold a lot of weight.

Even so, as a technology provider with over 40+ years of experience, I have to acknowledge that a subset of the 3CX customer base is not going to read the blog posts about what is coming in future updates, rather, they see a new shinny version number and assume the new version is better than the previous version and blindly upgrade... and honestly perhaps that is part of the plan -- a slow-roll release of a new version validates the core changes, while giving more time to focus on the secondary features.

We also have to consider that more goes into the decision of when to release than just whether all the features are ready. For example, security enhancements might be important enough to push changes out early. Maybe the market is forcing quick changes in order to support the inclusion of AI features. Your guess is as good as mine.

This long-established approach of getting new technology into the hands of early-adopter minded people is something you just come to recognize with 3CX and plan accordingly. This is the way it has always been done at 3CX and it is not likely to change. As long as you are aware of the pattern, you can ensure you time upgrades appropriately.
