V20, Update 3 Makes it to Release Candidate

This is the first I've heard of .799.
Now it is .802, but only in the SMB. The on-premise version currently remains at .796 after apt update && apt dist-upgrade.

Can we no longer have a different storage location for call recordings archive and system backups? Before on version 18 we had call recordings going to SFTP server and the backups going to google buckets. Is this possible?

It is now under 1 central repository only.

Any chance that changing/improving this might be considered, as the way version 18 and V20 release 1 & 2 has it where you can have the backups separately is the ideal option.

Use case is that I take backups of all my sites to my companies google buckets drive but if sites want their recordings backed up / archived this goes to one of their own drives which is a different option and location to the backups.

For example, one of my large call centres archive their recordings to an onsite FTP drive as they record all calls, but their system backups go to my companies google buckets drive as we don't want the backup to be onsite. I have many other sites set up similarly where the recordings are on a total separate drive to where the backups go.

I have service and maintenance agreements where I have to backup and have access to their system backups on a location supplied and paid for by my company, but this does not include backing up their recordings.

The system backups need to be able to have its own location which can be a totally separate drive and location type to the other options.

Thanks.

I just noticed that you could use different locations (such as local for recordings and SFTP for Backups) in Update 2 Build 715, but that now everything is in one location in Update 3 Build 796.

I agree that having these split, as it was before, is needed. Do you have any idea as to why this was changed?

You can still have the recordings locally if you want. It is just the remote storage which is in one location now.

The storage moving forward is centralised. You could configure your backups to go on the cheaper storage where the recordings are located. They will be placed into their respective folders.

This will make it alot easier to maintain just one storage location.

Hi 3CX Team,
How to config failover on V20 Update 3 with storage location type = FTP , follow by failover manual we recommend Google Storage only.

Thanks.

You can select Google Storage as your storage location

The active PBX will backup to this location and the failover machine will restore from this location as well.

At this point in time, upgrades from v18 to v20 install a version later than this RC, which was (as normal) not recommended for production. However per https://www.3cx.com/blog/news/v18-support/, support for v18 ends in one week from today. The later versions of 20u3 have no change log entries.

Are you all proceeding with upgrades or holding off until the release of u3?

I've been quite confused about this. New installs have been a Build that is shown as "Alpha" in the Upgrade area of v18 systems, which 3CX has said not to use for 'production' systems. I have not upgraded any customer systems (or my own office system), but two new systems that I put online a couple of weeks ago seem to be running ok on the "don't use for production" builds.

We haven't tried upgrading any servers to alpha>beta>RC which need to install in order. But reportedly current upgrades to v20 end up at a .796 version (not .786) or per at least one post are now a later version (which I don't remember offhand). The v18 upgrade prompt doesn't show a version number before upgrading.

Has the full version of update 3 released? We just upgraded a v18 system to v20 and it's running Version 20.0 Update 3 (Build 796). However, if updating v20 update 2, the latest available update is Version 20.0 Update 3 (Build 786 Beta).

Just confirming :) Keep up the great work.

That's basically my question above. Build 796 is after the announced RC (this thread), and there has been no further information about it or what it changes.

For failover, If me not use Google Storage but Choose FTP, I can running failover?

Of course! All the failover machine needs is access to that storage.

Hi,

Is it possible? In Admin Console > Advance > CID Rule > can you build import .csv to manage CID rule.

I'm having a problem with some customers to upgrade version 3cx v20. They has more 4000 CID Rule and update 3 time per month.

Thank you.

Wow! What’s the purpose of all these CIDs?
Do they go to different destinations?
What’s the objective here?

I think you should consider working with a Call Processing Script, with external database; in my opinion, that would be more appropriate.
