V20 Upgrade Checklist & FAQ

I appreciate your feedback, and it seems like you have a good memory. ^^
Deploying the application with MAC address imports requires a significant amount of upfront work.

I hope you will consider mass deploy mechanisms for Windows Store apps need to function before discontinuing the connection of the 3CX Desktop App.
@Gasha - Thank you for your feedback, just let us know if you have questions
@gcf - No need you need to go to the new app I am afraid. We will definitely look into mass deploy mechanisms for Windows store apps but not right now. You can also import MAC address. Those are the options, i believe we had discussed in an earlier thread.

@gcf plus i use forum search :) But i get your point, we are seeing how it could be easier,we will give it thought. Maybe user should login first time from the app?

Could the Windows app use SSO via O365 to login and provision itself? Assuming the user is logged in to their AzureAD account.

@ConceptsWeb Good thinking, thats exactly what we are checking out....:)

I must have missed the thread - can someone link it - where provisioning the windows store client could be done via MAC address.

are there going to be more webinars on the upcoming v20 release? they are both showing full now, and the one that works for USA time we're actually not available for anyway monday morning. thanks!

Hi everyone!

Here is the link to the blog post where you can sign up for our Version 20 webinars!

Hey,
the role matrix mentioned in the Blog is awesome (https://www.3cx.com/docs/manual/access-roles/).
It was maybe part of another thread about the roles, but i miss one configuration - "users with nothing". There are scenarios that users are part of a department, but must not have presence and all the other fancy things.

In the V20 roadmap, it mentions “New Queue strategy: Target busy agents (multi line queue strategy)”

I’ve checked more recent guides and blog posts but can’t confirm exact details.

Does this allow extensions to be alerted if a call is waiting in the queue and all agents busy? I know this has been requested by a few customers and partners here - ie you have 2-3 receptionists all on the phone, but they could quickly wrap up the call they’re on IF they are alerted to a call in the queue.

Sorry if this has been mentioned somewhere and I missed it - but will the old Windows client still work with v20? (Not the Electron app, the previous one).

We want to move to the new Windows Softphone, but I'd like to know if we need to roll it out as soon as we upgrade to v20, or if we have time to do it later.

As of right now it does, but at some point it might break and won't be fixed. I don't know if there are plans to deliberately break it.

I have the demo new version. It will not update my Snom phones.

I found the folder: /var/lib/3cxpbx/Instance1/Data/Http/Interface/provisioning/*******/firmware/snom

The Snom file is in both firmware and firmware-new.

Id and file size match but it isn’t working.

@bnichols_ Yes that is exactly what it does, it allows busy agents to be targeted so they can take the call if they wish. They must have multiple line support enabled on their phones.

@Charli The old app still works and we will not do anything to switch it off unless some critical vulnerability forces us to have to do so. So you have time to move to the new app.

@farsight I dont think this is related to v20....

Hi, if I remember correctly, v20 would bring multiple phonebooks (phonebook for each Department).
I don't see this yet in the current v20 build, no mention aswell in the "will be added later"-list.

Any information about this available?

Self hosted - Make sure you have 2 gig Ram and 2 vCPU
Will this be an enforced requirement of the platform by Release 1 or the strong recommendation?

While we fully intend to upgrade these to the recommended specs, doing so on the next billing cycle for some of our annual clients is convenient (no more than a few months away for most).
A handful of our self-hosted in the cloud deployments have only 1 vCPU and are currently operating fine (low user and SC usage helps).

Just confirming our clients that access the management console features won't be given notifications that their system specs are not sufficient.

Side note: I am considerably surprised at the volume of people that appear to be loading v20 onto production systems without much testing, more so when they are complaining about features not yet working!

Rant aside, very excited for Release 1, keep up the good work team!

Do we have or can we get a comparison list to show what we currently do not have in v20 that we had in v18?
