The only mention of the word intercom is my own (second) post in that thread, where I was discussing how we use intercom today:

That's incredibly unfortunate. Our shop uses intercom with everyone in the office and that would mean that everyone would have to be a manager. Bad change.

So if I've read this right, for example we can't even allow some extensions to listen in to calls without them having at least the Manager role which then allows them to update user extensions?

What is the process for giving the calls quality assurance department access to only reporting and recording?

I'm granting the user's manager access, at which point user management becomes fully accessible.

Reporting access option in v18 is preferable to v20. Please keep in mind the duties of the users. The some users can only access the reporting, recording, and both off-board features. Quality assurance or call centres must produce reports, but we won't provide access to the entire manager access.

I'm absolutely frustrated with this whole "upgrade" that 3CX have undertaken. Many valuable customisation options have now been removed from V20 and certainly are a major step backwards. This particular area of user rights/roles has now become so restrictive that we have to increase a basic user to a higher overall role to get basic rights. I seriously hope 3CX are going to listen to their partners and customers and return the high level of customisation V18 had

Thank you for the feedback provided. There are some limitations there, but you can not, not see so many new features that V20 brought. As you already know, roles at current time are not customizable, but as V20 is at its very start, stay tuned for new features to come.
