We just upgraded to what I assume is the release version of 5 and I have a couple questions.

1. How does the Call by Name option work for the digital receptionist. I tried using the phone keypad to put in firstname, lastname, etc but nothing seems to work

2. How does call parking work.

3. I saw hints of being able to transfer directly to voicemail, was this implemented and if so how?

I saw no referance to any of these items in the documentation.

Thanks,

Awe, come on, these are pretty simple questions that require no troubleshooting.

So if they are so easy then why don't you answer them? :)

1) Not sure, can't get it to work myself
2) Have not tried it but this is from the manual:
Call Park
If you wish to “park” a call and then pick up the call from another extension:
*00-9 – to park the call
*10-9 – to pick up a parked call.
For example, type *00 to park the call in ‘parking lot’ 0, and then *10 to pick up the call from parking lot zero.
Parking lots support parking of multiple calls. Therefore, when un-parking, you can add the extension number from which the call was parked to be sure that you un-park the particular call you had parked there.
Note: Call Pickup and Call Park are only available in commercial editions of 3CX Phone System

3) I am hoping for this but haven't seen it yet

Rob described it correctly.
Re call/transfer to vmail: default prefix is *4, than dial ext. number. So, to call to vmail of ext 100 dial '*4100'

Can we get some sticky postings with this info for everyone to find quickly?

Firewall ports
Call Parking
Transfer to VM
And anything else that comes up a lot on here?

What about the "call by Name" option?

Been asked several times here and I don't recall seeing the method of use anywhere.

Ok, dialing any of these codes doesn't seem to do anything.

I have Linksys SPA962 phones with DTMF set to "Inband", could this be why?

The default setting would not allow us to dial extensions, etc on other systems.

I'm using the 942's so I should have the same settings. I'll give it a try tonight.

Were you able to try Rob?

Call parking didn't work for me. I tried it with the call live and then the call on hold. Didn't seem to do anything when I pressed *00.

You should not just press *00, you should transfer to it. And to unpark (retrieve parked call) you sould call to *10

Nothing happened when I tried it. What do the DTMF settings have to be in order for the pbx to be able to "hear" them?

That makes more sense. I was able to park it - did a blind xfer to *00. The call disappeared from the phone. I dialed *10 but nothing happened there. The external call stayed on hold.

I got this in the server status log:

Direct calls to parking orbit are NOT possible! Please unpark the call using the appropriate dial codes.
