w52p - setting web password

Traditionally, on a Yealink phone, one can set the password during provisioning using this line:

security.user_password = admin:%%DESKPHONE_PASSWORD%%

However, (on v15 sp4 at least) that literally sets the password to %%DESKPHONE_PASSWORD%%. Is this just another bug in sp4 or is there something different I can do to set the password? All other variables seem to pass fine.

On dect phones templates do not provision the password (the value is commented out) as there are more that one extensions per base. Therefore the password remains the default.
You can set it through the template by enabling the line "security.user_password = admin:..." but it will get the value set there.

Maybe an idea then: Tie a password to the FXS/DECT device and pass that during provisioning. We're able to pass variables such as Language and Time Zone, so it doesn't seem like a big ask.
