W56H Firmware

3CX v18.0 Update 3 on Hyper-V Debian VM
Yealink T42S, T46S, W80DM/B, W56H

Brand new W56H out of the package registered to a W80DM. Upon handset registration, the base upgraded the firmware to 61.83.0.90 (should be 61.85.0.35) and is now stuck in a reboot loop. I can't seem to do anything with the handset to get the proper firmware on it. I can deregister the handset, can sometimes factory reset it but how to I put the correct firmware on it? I'm sure it's firmware and not the hardware... the phone was fine out of the package until that firmware was installed.

Suggestions? Is there a non-OTA firmware upgrade procedure? The handset is bricked at this point...

Firstly, do you have both a W80DM and W80B device?

Yes I do. 1x W80DM and 4x W80B.

1. Ok firstly factory reset the bases W80DB / W80B

2. Access the official Yealink website and then click “Software”

3. Upgrade bases to the 3CX supported version

4. Connect the W80B Bases to the W80DM

5. Provision the DM so that your extensions will appear.

Now, the handset should no longer be connected to the bases because we reset them. You should be able to pair it again to the bases, and now use the W80DM interface to help you upgrade the paired W56H. The firmware 61.85.0.35 should also be available on the above website.

It might take some time once it starts (screen message appears) so keep it close to a W80B (the W80DM does not transmit DECT radio signals).

Hopefully it will work out for you, if not then the best thing to do is contact Yealink support with a description of the problem, and they may be able to help you complete the upgrade or at least send you a replacement.

Thanks John... I may give that a go.
As I said, I can deregister the handset from the DM but it won't stay on long enough to do anything. Maybe it is hardware... I switched out the board with an old W56H handset (bad earpiece) and it is working fine with the 61.83.0.90 firmware on it (upgraded to 61.85.0.35 now). I guess that new one was a lemon... which I purchased quite a while ago as a spare/backup and never tested.

No problem, glad you at least got a working device out of two. Might indeed be hardware if the board swap was successful.
