What’s Cooking in our Remote Kitchens? The 3CX Road Map

@Nick Galea
We mis the option that we can join a web meeting with a professional Room System. As organizer of a web meeting you want to be able to use a professional Room System. Yealink has Room Video conferencing systems suitable for SIP/H323, Zoom, SfB and Teams. Shouldn’t it be possible to create a 3CX variant through a collaboration between 3CX and Yealink ? Or is there already another solution for this question on the roadmap ?

@TechnicalCT - The room system has to support webRTC. There are such versions available from Google and also Logitech, these work well with 3CX. Else use any MiniPC that can run Google Chrome and you have the same thing for a fraction of the price. Why Yealink does not make a version of WebRTC / Google / 3CX, I dont know, its up to them to do this...

"adding Microsoft Direct Routing capability for Microsoft Teams, allowing you to make calls from Teams via 3CX "

This would be an important feature to add, a massive sales booster for 3cx in our marked!

Can you please give us a list of top 3 usability issues or reasons Zoom was used? Zoom is not cheap and I simply cant see what makes it better but happy to hear feedback of course.
The schools in our area are using Zoom for remote teaching, as I am quite sure they are Unaware of the 3cx platform. As time goes on I am sure 3cx will over take the market due simply for pricing as well as performance. My hats off to @Nick Galea and the teem of 3cx for there hard work!

Just to chime in about the webmeeting part: yes Zoom seems to me more user friendly. But for example for a non-profit organization where we are always strapped for money we were happy that 3CX had the capability to do web meetings without having additional cost. Yes the learning curve is a bit steeper but they got the hang of it eventually.

It would be nice to see some improvements as stated above.
I think the biggest thing is that the concept of a webmeeting in 3CX with all participants being equal is not what users think about a webmeeting. We only use the webinar feature and configure the options so that it is suitable: organizer must start meeting, uncheck hide participants, enable audio and video at start of meeting.

would be nice to be able to create templates with these options to create your own flavor of web meeting settings.

Reoccuring meetings where the conf pin doesn't change would be nice.
Reschedule or change a meeting.

Default audio and video settings for low bandwidth environments.

But all in al it is working fine.

please fix other important things first which turns new customers away

for example:
- no ability to change ringtones on snom devices for external calls
- phonebook on snom devices only display 3cx numbers and mobile numbers - landline completely missing

- phonebook on snom devices only display 3cx numbers and mobile numbers - landline completely missing
this one I have to agree with emphasis. that is not only a SNOM issue happens on Grandstreams and Yealinks too.
It seems from a technical perspective and from a user friendly perspective just silly that only one type of phone number seemingly arbitrary the mobile number is transferred on the device phone book although the device can store all types of phone numbers. So yes please fix his. It sounds that could be fixed very easy.

That's the phonebook limitation. It only uses the MobilePhone property of contacts, so BusinessPhone and such aren't provisioned. This is due to difference in how many fields there are on each phones, some have 1 (rare) and some have more.

I get that not every phone can support that. But that is why we have different templates for different phones. So the template and probably 3CX code for that piece would have to take into account how many slots are available. It is certainly doable from a technical perspective.
To settle on the least common denominator is not really a good approach.

I can see the new changes for webmeeting were implemented, I can see the new "test" screen when joining a meeting.

Currently I can offer the following feedback. currently, there is no option to mute an audio device, or disable the camera before joining the meeting. while we are now able to choose which device to use (which is better than before). Our team would like the option of turning off my camera before joining the meeting.

@AlexanderReichert @tkSwaggyDaggy Re phonesbooks - yes we are aware of this issue and something we are looking into, its on our list.
@bwitzig - good point we will address this. At the moment you can disable it in the meeting itself but makes sense to have one right from the start.

@mperrin - thank you for the heads up. Quite a few of those points we can address.... not the one of transmitting pre recorded media though....

Thats not true for Snom Handsets, there is a working Script to update the phonebook file of 3CX

It would be nice to have this integrated in 3CX officially

thanks, I hope it is high up on your priority list because we cant deploy 3CX with this limitation in our HQ

@Nick Galea What about being able to set an emergency caller id? So that my phones use one caller id except when we dial 911 it uses a different. This is a must, i should not need to register E911 address to every DID. Each user should have their own Did but when they call 911 I should be able to set a different Caller ID.

@Nick Galea

3cx you can have either audio call or video call, can't combine both . That is people can't dial into a video call , yes We can only schedule a full audio call where ppl can call in.

issue is old people or no computer in the place they are , like to dial in and participate.

i have seen many others also dial in when in video calls connected in PC / laptop because in those mic or speaker wont be working properly and or they want privacy.

the audio call you have conference room ID if same could be given to video calls than all can participate from video/link/web and audio/dial in.

plus importantly mobile support is a must in both IOS , ANdroid , because everyone now a days connects from ipad, iphone to android phone. but 3cx apps on both have no support for it and mobile web browsers also dont support 3cx.

if you take example scenario of typical companies.
1. executives connect from laptop/pc using browser.
2. Managment connect from ipad, iphone, android phone/ tab.
3. some directors/ shareholders dail in through normal audio call/PSTN.

This is a must, i should not need to register E911 address to every DID. Each user should have their own Did but when they call 911 I should be able to set a different Caller ID.

This is currently possible by using separate trunks for 911 calls. It is simplified in v16u5, but still possible in prior versions. Use the Emergency Numbers option or Outbound Rules so that when 911 is dialed the call is routed out a specific trunk that forces the correct e911 Caller ID number. You can use groups or extension ranges to determine the rule used.

I believe 3CX plans to continue enhancing e911, but currently you should be able to meet the requirements.
