My SBC vm (linux) was shutdown for a few hours last night - version 16.1.152

When it was switched on all the Yealink phones (T42S, T54W, CP960, we only have yealink desk phones) were no longer listed this morning, restarting the phone listed them as new phones and they had to be assigned to the extensions again.

3CX cloud version is 16.0.5.619

Any ideas why this would happen?

Hard to tell what happen after the event.

Did you reassign the phones, without deleting the existing phone details under the extension ? (3CX does not allow duplicate mac addresses). If this is the case, then somehow / someone deleted the existing phone configuration.

I very much doubt switching off the SBC would do this.

The phone configuration with the mac address was still under each extension and it allowed me to assign the phone displayed as new to the same extension, indeed when i did chose a wrong extension it alerted that the mac was assigned to another. all 30 phones I had to reassign, I tried leaving one for several hours to see if it would get assigned but it did not, just sat there as "new".

So the 'new' in the phones just means the SBC saw the PnP notice and relayed it to the PBX. You said you 'needed' to reassign the phones but it's unclear if that's because the phones actually weren't registered/working or if you just wanted the 'new' to go away.

The phones were not working, saying "service unavailable", had to reassign the phones so they would provision and start working.
