Hi

Just wondering if anyone has experience using this service and how does one go about gaining access to it?

Looks like a real time saver.

Thanks

3CX will send requests to the RPS automatically. You don't need your own (to be precise, it wouldn't work since devices are already in another account).

If you are referring to the STUN-based phone provisioning method, you will notice that after setting a phone as STUN in the management console, the Event Log will show something like "RPS request sent successfully".

Since this is an automated part of your PBX, you don't need to bother with manually accessing the RPS server of Yealink, or Snom or Grandstream etc.

I thought this RPS service would allow me to send MAC addresses to Yealink and then those phones would auto-provision right out of the box? Is this not what it does?

You have to setup the phone within 3CX first, just follow the instructions for the correct Yealink phone.

For example - https://www.3cx.com/sip-phones/yealink-t4-series/

Just note - if you have more than one device at the same location you need to

1. Give each phone a different sip / rtp ports
2. Give the phone a fixed IP address , probably thru DHCP
3. Setup portforwarding on the firewall to point the correct sip / rtp ports to relevant phone IP address

Yes this is what it does. Each phone vendor has its own RPS server which we use to help you setup the phone in your remote location.
The way this works is you setup your phone in the 3CX management console to use STUN as its provisioning method. Once you press OK the PBX will send a request to the RPS server.
You then power on a factory reset device in a remote location and the device knows to check the RPS server for a configuration. If it finds a configuration it will request a username and a password. The phone will then proceed to download the configuration and setup it self.

Ah brill! thanks for this :)

Does this explain why some old phones clients' have from previous providers are constantly switching back to another system even when we have factory reset them and added them to ours?

I could explain that, yes. I would recommend contacting the phone vendor and having them check their RPS server.

I have provisioned my own phone with the 3CX direct stun method. I have then deleted the extension, i thought that would remove the MAC address again from dm.yealink.com RPS service again. But apperantly not. I just tried to use the MAC on my own RPS account with Yealink and it says the MAC is already in use by another enterprise. Doesn't removing the extension in 3CX remove the MAC from the Yealink RPS?

Clearly not :)

No, the RPS entries expire eventually after 14 days unless you send a new request again.

Yealink will not allow you to remove it directly because it was sent by the 3CX system.
