Hello all!

New to the 3CX world, about to go live with our new system in the next week. The last thing on my list was to figure out why the phones were taking forever to dial out, and after some research into the default template, it looks like I need to create a dialnow.xml file which outlines all of the use cases.

I've searched online (mostly at Yealink's site) for a default template file but there doesn't seem to be one. Would someone have one they can share to get me started in the right direction?

Thanks in advance!

Brian

Hello @Brian DArcy

Please note that if you provision the phone with the 3CX default template and supported firmware you should not need to perform any additional configuration.
What do you mean by the phones taking forever to dial out?

Hi Yiannish,

Thanks for the response. After further investigation, I think what I'm after is a live dialpad. If I pick up the handset and dial, there is roughly a ~2 second delay until the call goes through (digit timeout, I assume), which is acceptable. However when you just start dialing a number with the handset down, the speakerphone light comes on, and if you don't do anything further after dialing, about 10 seconds later the phone just removes the input and goes back to the main screen. For the call to complete after dialing, you're forced to either press send, or pick up the handset for the call to go through.

My assumption was that it would require a dialing rule on phone for this to be corrected, but by your statement, maybe not? I see that I can enable the live dialpad via the phone UI, but I'm looking for a way to manage this feature with fleets of phones, while still staying "supported".

EDIT: Specifically, I'm on a bone stock (3CX supported templates/firmware etc..) Yealink T46S.

This is actually the phones default behaviour. When you pick the handset up a line opens so when you dial a number the phone will wait for 2 seconds to make sure nothing else is pressed and will dial the number. The same will happen if you press the speakephone button and start dialling the number. If however you start dialling directly the phone does not open a line so it waits for an action. After 10 seconds it just goes back to the main screen. I know it looks the same but for the phone it is not.
