Hello !

I am having issues to update the firmware of brand new T53 phones.
Devices have Firmware version 95.84.0.95 when unboxing.

When doing the firmware upgrade from 3CX, the process start but the phones are not taking the Firmware upgrade.
Instead it starts and restart again and again (infinite loop with "Firmware Upgrade") -> it tries to install patchT54W(T57W,T53W,T53,T53C,T54,T57)-96.86.0.23.rom (339KB) again and again.
Upgrade of the already install T53 with Firmware 96.86.0.5 works fine (no infinite reboot with "Firmware Upgrade")

I could get that resolved by replacing the firmware file patchT54W(T57W,T53W,T53,T53C,T54,T57)-96.86.0.23.rom by T54W(T57W,T53W,T53,T53C,T54,T57)-96.86.0.23 in the firmware and firmware_new folder of my 3CX instance.

That works fine but I it is NOT recommended by Yealink (Reade me file + Firmware downloaded from 3CX (https://www.3cx.com/support/phone-firmwares/)
The process should be to first upgrade 95.84.0.95 to 96.86.0.18 and then to version 96.86.0.23.

How could I make sure that I could do that from the 3CX admin console ?
Do I need to change the file firmwares.json to allow me to first upgrade from 95.84.0.95 to 96.86.0.18 and then to version 96.86.0.23.

Many thanks in advance !

Best regards

Hi @Jérôme Wentzel

3CX ensures that your management console will let you install the next latest version automatically, but only so long as you have the current version installed. Our guides explain that the first time you connect a phone to 3CX, you need to manually install the current firmware. From there on, any new versions that get released can indeed be done automatically.

In answer to your question, you cannot do that from the 3CX management console the first time, you will have to do it manually. In addition, due to an issue that Yealink faced with this version, they released special instructions on how to get to V96.86.0.23 and there is an ongoing discussion here https://www.3cx.com/community/threads/bricked-yealink-t54ws-with-96-86-0-20-firmware.82455/

We would not recommend modifying any json files or skipping Yealink's recommendations because your devices may become damaged. Based on their feedback, I think it is vital that you follow their instructions, to get to 96.86.0.23.

Feel free to join the other discussion if you have any questions, so we can keep it all under a single thread.

Hi Jerome

I have the Yealink T53W handsets and I am having exactly the same issue. In the 3CX console, it shows the firmware is not supported and if you try to upgrade it, it just does not work. I've tried factory defaulting and manually upgrading to the latest firmware (downloaded from the Yealink website) but as soon as you try to auto provision it back to 3CX you get the same issue. I have reached out to Yealink (submitted a ticket), however I believe its more likely to be a 3CX issue. I will update this if I get any further info from Yealink.

Hope this helps :-)

Hi,

Please follow the above link that I posted. As outlined there, it is purely a problem that Yealink faced and they have already provided solutions for this to help all their customers upgrade. Please read the thread and try their solution, and reply on there accordingly.
