Solved Yealink W60B Registration

I have had issues with several Yealink W60Bs maintaining their registration via STUN. The remote sites also have a T-48S that has no issues maintaining their registration via STUN.

The one thing I noticed is that the phones are shipping with FW version 77.83.0.85. The 'Software' page on the Yealink 3CX site says that the latest supported FW version is 77.83.0.20.

When I try to downgrade the FW on the base it tells me that I already have a newer version and will not let me. I did see another thread on the forum where a user had a similar problem and it seemed like he was able to downgrade and install the older FW on the base.

What am I doing wrong?

Also, I know it is communicating with the system because I am able to provision it now using the provisioning URL after a factory reset. It just won't register. It had previously been registered for over 60 days.

So is it having problems maintaining registration or is it not registering? I'm not sure if it's related but I recall an issue where if the W60B lost DNS access then it would fail to register. Having DNS pointed locally (most routers will act as a DNS relay) or to a local server doing DNS if in a corporate environment generally resolved the issue. When you try to downgrade the firmware is this in the web interface? If so I'd go to the Yealink forums as that's Yealink specific. But generally you should be able to force firmware downgrades unless the release notes specifically say something about not being able to downgrade after upgrading.

Now it is not registering at all. I have tried several reboots and reset to factory defaults/auto provisioned. My last idea was to downgrade to the 3CX supported FW to see if that worked.

I don't think it is a DNS issue because I am able to use my FQDN to auto provision, but I will make sure it is using the local router for DNS.

I am trying to downgrade the FW in the web interface of the base station when I get the message that says I am running a newer version already. The odd thing is, I have three other W60Bs running FW version 77.83.0.85 registered to the same 3CX system that aren't having registration issues. My concern is they will start having problems.

I was able to get this to work. I had to reset the base to factory defaults before performing the FW downgrade. It registered instantly post auto provision after booting up with FW 77.83.0.20.

@clearedgeseth you can contact Yealink and see if there is a way to downgrade to the supported firmware. You need to use that as your starting point before anything else.

Alternatively, you can try using it with an SBC and see if you get better results (in case the FW downgrade is an impossibility)

@JohnS_3CX I was able to downgrade the FW by performing the downgrade after restoring the W60B to factory defaults. It registered instantly post auto provision after the downgrade.
