Hi All,

I have some Yealink T42Ss which wont provision. They appear in the list of phones in 3CX however i cant allocate them to an extension. I also cant login to their admin panel on the web with the default user/pass which is admin/admin.

I have tried resetting them via holding the OK button and doing factory reset - still cant login or provision the phones
I have tried updating the firmware by long pressing the speaker button and loading it from USB - still cant login or provision the phones

When i do both the above the phones still show the old lines that were i assumed assigned to them by there previous users.

Thanks.

Are you sure having done factory reset has it should?
If you are not able to connect phone GUI with default credentials it surely means that factory process has not been well done.

What are you doing exaclty , did you follow documentation ?

Have you removed the power from the units after the factory default settings.

To factory default, you hold the OK button until you see factory reset in the screen then press the OK blf key.

Until you can factory default them with admin as username and password, nothing you can do to get them working with 3CX

If you cannot factory default them, maybe worth calling Yealink direct.

Hello All,

Thanks for the replies.

Yes i am.. holding OK Wait for phone to say reset to factory defaults. Press OK. Phone says resetting to factory, it restarts twice and then it still shows all old extensions and doesn't have default user and password.

Ive tried removing the power after this is complete.

press the OK blf key.
Ive tried pressing OK and the BLF key furthest to the right to start the reset both seem to do the same thing

Ill attach a video tomorrow.

This is not really a 3CX issue, probably best calling Yealink or posting in their forums

Are these phones brand new or secondhand ?

Hi Alex,

The reason the system cannot provision them is because we have to be able to access the device with default known credentials.

May I ask, are you using 3CX firmware on them or perhaps some other custom firmware? No all phones will accept our firmware if the manufacturer has disabled this when deploying custom firmware in other markets.

Ok just trying here first as been on here a long time :)

They are second hand, the seller is not forthcoming with a password

Ah perhaps, they are indeed customized phones. In this case the vendor might have to intervene before you can use them on any other system than what originally intended.

Or perhaps previously used in STUN with config always coming back each reset.

try to do factory reset out of internet connexion to be sure a config cannot be pushed inside , and do a test if you have phone access, if so , then you need to remove phone mac adress from RPS servers

If you can't get into a phone with the default credentials after factory resetting, it means one of two things:

  • It's not running stock firmware so it has a different default credential
  • It's tied to RPS and it's pulling down a config somewhere else after the factory reset.

For the first option you are basically screwed although there may be some hacks. For the second, RPS should only happen on a factory reset phone. If you unplug your internet connection and then factory reset the phone it won't be able to hit RPS. You can then login with default credentials and then provision the phone. It shouldn't try to hit RPS after that unless it's factory reset again.

Hey wicked everyone thanks for the additional suggestions. I will try the no internet connection idea this morning and let you know how it goes.

Alex
