We have managed to make Update 1 (SP1) available just in time for your holidays! Update 1 has a good number of features for administrators and users of 3CX alike.

Extensive IP Phone Configuration options

We have greatly expanded the configuration options available for supported phones. Now you can configure the following option...

Not seeing the update offered in my Linux systems, even though I got the email that it was available.

Did you make any changes to the repository? Check to which repo you are pointing..

The setting phone options and line keys are HUGE! Thank you!!! I'm currently testing against Fanvil and yealink phones we have at the office here, and looks like I'm going to delay two systems who are on 12.5 upgrades to 15.5 until this is released as it will make my job MUCH easier as a lot of what we do in the custom templates are now in the management interface.

Question though, will phone options like VLAN and Date/Time format make to the Yealink T32 series? We have quite a few deployed and I know they are EOL but it would help greatly with them especially with the two customers we are wanting to upgrade to 15.5 soon, it would eliminate completely the need for custom templates at both customers.

T32 are discontinued. Leave them there being used and keep on using custom templates for them.

Good job and nice update, hope to see it going in final soon!
When will there be an option to work with multiple lines on a phone (2 different accounts registered on the same phone) ?

Thank you!

This feature has to be configured manually I'm afraid. We will not make it because it will make the parser and template extremely complex.

Thank you for the quick reply!
When configuring manually I cannot set local SIP ports to the extension (yealink does not support local sip port for multiple accounts). So basically it would not be possible to use 2 extensions on 1 phone in 3CX when using yealink phones I guess...?

Definitely you can - 100% - I can also give you the local sip port parameter name...
Multiple accounts can work manually with yealink.
Now if you cannot do this, do not worry because a mechanism of port increment exists.. Yealink phone can reason like this:
Local sip port 5060
A ok - I have another account? Fine - give that account session local sip port of 5060 +2 = 5062
AAAA Wait - I have ANOTHER account? fine - five it 5062+2 - 5064 Etc etc.

this is done internally - but you do not care. Because this is all yealink local port stack. Everything is on the yealink interface. External to the pbx.

In older yealink firmware you could set a different local sip port per account on the advanced tab. They removed it in the new firmware giving you only 1 option to set a local sip port for all accounts.
This gives problems when I register 2 accounts on a Yealink phone to my 3CX. The phone does register both accounts on the same SIP port so it does not look like it is incrementing. That is why I was hoping to have the ability to provision 2 accounts from the 3CX cause it would enable me to set the SIP ports in the provisioning tab in the webinterface.
If I understand you correctly you have a workaround for this so I can register both accounts to the same 3CX pbx on different ports?

Best create a new thread because we are going off topic. Make a new thread and I will ask my yealink contacts to help you..

On the X6, can the default template drop the MWI and Headset buttons

We checked it and with the final X6 will not pre-allocate the two buttons anymore

So it would seem like you should either not re-use the extension or you should have a backup process outside of 3CX to cover your retention needs and not push this on to 3CX.

The backup process would be useless as the backup runs daily. If staff terminated before the backup it wouldn't make much sense in removing the recordings. IS staff reprovision the phones (change name) and remove the voicemail so that it can be reused. Looking at the video, I was hoping that it can be done similarly to that where you can selectively keep things from the extension but I guess we will do it since the way we are doing it now.

If we wanted to, can we still use templates for the phones?

While this is a very nice step in setting up the phones, it will be impossible for 3cx to fully please everyone that modifies templates now. I just wanted to know if the base templates would still be updated so that custom templates can be used. There are cases where we would still need to modify the templates outside of the options that 3cx provides. Two examples:
  • You have two PBXes bridged and on a yealink T4X you wanted to add both address books from each PBX into the phone so that they can be searched, etc)
  • You want to add in the multicast paging groups to the phone

Hi,

For a new customer I want to install a fresh 3CX on Debian.
I do not want install the v15.5 Update 1 BETA version, because I do not want the customer act as beta tester.
How do I get/install the previous (v15.5) version?

Thanks.

both are items we have on our radar but maybe with different solutions as in current practice. TBA

3CX will not maintain any other template then our own and the once we will ship with SP1. It will and shall remain the admin's obligation to match ours once custom template are in use. More info here: https://www.3cx.com/docs/custom-ip-phone-templates/

We are aware of this and will ship soon a solution where you need to add to the apt-get install 3cxpbx [stable|beta] at the end. Omitting it will take always latest (what ever it is). For now you need to do this:

apt-get install 3cxpbx=15.5.1694.0

and then the beta is offered as an optional update to you.

GROUP VM - OUTSTANDING! How many years have we been BEGGING for this? THANK YOU!!

It doesn't have EVERYTHING everyone asked for.. but as MVPs go, excellent work!!

Additional features I'd like to see in group VM:
- Customize VM Prompt
- Change behavior of email - send to members vs send to ONE email address, like our own email distribution list.
- Would LOVE for it to actually work with existing MWI, 3cx client functionality, but I can LIVE WITHOUT this in favor of the two above features. Include those, and it will COMPLETELY replace my need to create separate "ghost" extensions just as vm destinations.

Thanks!!

I upgraded my system to this version. Upgraded my phones to the new firmware. I am hosting this system in the cloud and using Natpass cloud based SBC. I though that the webclient would allow me to use my phone with full functions. However, it uses makecall to make calls.

Should this work this way? I thought I had it working without makecall before, but don't remember as I did not use the webclient much. I have selected to use the correct phone at the phone selection at the top.

Natpass cloud based SBC

we can not comment what your SBC does or not but but it looks like

a) you are not using IP phones we declare to support it
or
c) your SBC can not handle usCSTA.

given that you have a is in place, place them behind the 3CX SBC and retry please.

Please understand that from a support perspective we can not look deeper into this setup.

I tried telling my boss that and he does not understand haha, I figured it would still be custom templates. I did notice that the BLF/Line keys work on the T32 though which is cool, VLAN I can easily do via template.

Great, that was kind of a silly thing to be on a phone with hardware buttons. I suspect we'll be selling the X6's for recepionists, X4's for normal users and X3's and low end Yealinks for other areas.

Stefan:

I have no problem with maintaining custom templates but when i looked at the beta, i didn't see the templates for say X5S. Will they be there so that we can continue modifying templates for the phones and do what i was doing prior until the items are added. I would rather stay with support and as of now maintaining the templates isn't that much of a pain but going forward i just want to maintain that i can continue doing them provided that they are there.
