Hello,

We are going to set up 2 3CX appliances for a customer in order to do active / passive failover between the two.

I would like to know if it was necessary to acquire 2 3CX Enterprise licenses or if one was enough?

In addition, the 2 appliances will be on the same site and the same network, is it necessary to have 2 different public IPs?

I also saw that when switching there was a different 3CX FQDN update time between 3CX Pro and Ent license, could you confirm please?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Enterprise license allows you to run two instances of 3CX running the same license key

As @Saqqara said, in a 3CX Failover configuration you actually MUST use the same License Key for both Active and Passive servers.

Not at all, you can use the same public IP for both, just make sure the firewall configuration will apply correctly depending on which 3CX PBX is up and running(is the active server).

That is correct, a 3CX Pro License has a DNS TTL for the FQDN of 6 hours, whereas a 3CX ENT License has a DNS TTL of 5 minutes. However, if you are planning on using the same public IP for both active and passive servers, this should not be a concern.

Great, thank you for your answers it's very clear and it helps me a lot.

Very good day.
