Is a Yealink Team phone just for Teams, or can it be connected to 3CX also? So we can either use teams to call or 3CX to call?

We would like to open Teams on the computer/large screen in the room and use the phones for Teams audio, but still maintain the ability to make normal calls thru 3CX.

If you can run 2 SIP accounts on it then yes. Obviously not supported set up in 3CX so you'd have to manually add the account.

The Yealink docs are unclear as to whether the phone is strictly Teams or if it can also connect to 3CX.

You can connect it to both Teams and 3CX. Tap of a button to switch between, but it's unsupported by 3CX officially.

What's the model of the Yealink? MP56, T58, VP59 should support "Hybrid Mode" which allows 1 SIP account beside the Teams account.

T55A doesn't support that. Note that this only applies to Teams phone, not SfB ones.

The T58A can connect 16 SIP accounts like a regular Yealink phone...

Well, that's new. When I tried it out, it was limited to 1. Probably updated via firmware.

Good to know! Anyway, more than 1 account with 3CX is more trouble than worth (CSTA issues and such).

Great news!

We have an older CP960 (3 years) and a T58V that are not "Skype" or "Teams". Do you know if we can update the firmware to the Teams version and license them? I read somewhere it was possible, but I don't want to brick a working phone.

I've seen this done, but can't say for sure that all T58's can be converted. You should reach out to Yealink about this and they can provide quotes/instructions - which usually is "pay us this and then you can flash this firmware and install this license file".

Yealink said yes to both phones, and they have a free 180 day license that can be renewed, so I updated the firmware on both phones:

The T58V let me sign into Teams, but once it opens I cannot get back to the 3CX screens. I don't see the SIP icon like in the photo above. How can I enable that option? I am using Teams normally, not with Microsoft Calling.

I did not have to install a license on this device per their instructions from this page: http://support.yealink.com/faq/faqInfo?id=785, in fact the license weblink is offline currently. http://mslicense.yealink.com/

The CP960 gives a Teams need android.permission.BLUETOOTH permission error when I open it, and I am reaching out to Yealink on it.

Thanks for the help in this journey - almost there I hope.

Teams are working on the phones!
Hybrid mode is enabled!

I usually use the autoprovision feature to send the 3CX config to the phones when deployed. I realized 3CX was changing the firmware during the provisioning. So, to connect the phones to 3CX now is the best thing to do a manual setup like this page shows: 3cx.com/sip-phones/manually-configure-yealink-t32g-t38g-t42g-t46g/

Will this work or is there a better way? Thanks again.

100% you will need to manually configure the phone, similar to what your link shows. 3CX autoprovision is not designed for this.

For bulk use, a generic autoprovision system can be used as well.

After a long weekend, and some trouble with the admin password on the 960, I have Teams and 3CX on both phones. Thanks to everyone for the input.
