3CX Announces Multi-Tenant Capability

Hi Lance - This particular point is down to configuration. In the multi tenant you must configure call parking per tenant. We will document this better.

Soon multi tenant will be launched and you will be able to set it up from the partner portal. 32 SC ENT will be the minimum license.
Thanks Nick

We are already running a multi-tenant server with 32SC license and it is working well. :D

Are there changes upcoming which will change what we have already deployed? It would be great to be able to plan for any upcoming changes if there are any :)

Best,
Lance

Hey guys, firstly wishing you all a very Happy New Year!

Just looking for the guide on uploading different Music on Hold option for MCM, all the searches have lead here but I can't seem to find how it's done. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

MCM shares the same main hold music and is in the same area as a normal system. Remember, you also need to select the hold for parking, this too is system-wide. But for queues, you can still do a queue specific hold music.

No changes at all. You can configure it anyway you like. The multi tenant option is quite free form it just allows you to configure it per department anyway you want. When making extension ranges for tenants though you have to leave space for system extensions thats all really.

We are working to publish the script that we run ourselves to setup 3CX SMB when a customer signs up on 3cx.com. This way you can see what we do, what reservations we make during setup. You can copy it or just get ideas from it.

Releasing the script is very much appreciated.

When for the phonebook ? Why it not be possible pour MoH ? It's just coding, and 1 MoH for a multi-tenant is not relevent !

Its n the pipeline, no ETA can currently be given.

It's just coding
Its not as simple as that. And without access to our source code, I dont think an opinion of our code can be expressed by anyone.

For the music on hold, you said "will not be possible" : ever ? or it is on the pipe too ?

Ok for the phonebook
Ok also for the MoH, it's right I cannot say if it's possible or not but your answers still inapropriate for a Multi-Tenant PBX. This is probalbly the more important feature in a Multi-tenant environement...

If anyone needs their own music on hold, then they will need to go for a dedicated instance. The Music on Hold for a multitenant will need to be decided by you as what to have as a global music on hold.

Sorry if my dumb is showing here, but what if you threw them into a queue group instead of putting them on hold? If you have people waiting long enough to be able to listen to a spiel in the hold music, a queue might even be more appropriate?

If this isn't possible or wouldn't work, my apologies. I haven't had to dig that deep into queue programming.

Well you can of course have a custom announcement for each queue.

You can also configure your own music on hold and have multiple music on hold files just has to be the same for the whole PBX. I do not think its a biggie, but each to his own of course, we respect that, but then either dedicated or another multi Tenant solution.

You really have to perform some mental gymnastics to suggest putting someone in a queue is a reasonable alternative to putting someone on hold. I cannot count the number of problems that would cause. But... putting the caller on park IS a reasonable alternative. Still, there are lots of situations where someone might hear on-hold music. You are just going to have to live with a shared on-hold music in some situations or move to a dedicated instance.

Hey, you have to admit my I said my dumb might be showing. BUT, that said, the system I'm currently working with has a lot more options, including individual music on hold.

It's my contention, pretty much, that the small businesses that we have on Tenant are fairly unlikely to really need individualized hold music. I was just trying to make my watch happy with mental gymnastics, since it's unlikely the physical gym will be seeing me any time soon. Out of several hundred in the current system, only three or four have individual hold music.

Mine are all customised MOH, I can't suffer always earing the same music everywhere, and surely no more the 3CX default one provided. For me Music is also a way to be different from others and have something which can enforce your business identity.

My idea could be to create small MT machines perhaps with the same brands so they can share same musical identity.

I can see that. I have really run with the customized DR messages and have different music and custom settings for each customer. However, all the hold music is the standard 3CX. I kind of like it, though, I've been used to 15 years of Spanish guitars on a 12 second loop. The 3CX music is kinda catchy.
