3CX Announces Multi-Tenant Capability

select outbound caller ID will come on a user and per call basis, I.e. you can select your outbound route and caller ID from the app dial pad
HECK YEAH

I'm trying to understand that you cannot assign the same numbering plan to different companies in the MCM. This would then not be correct to call Multi-tenant, rather it should be called use of the same machine for different companies but not Multi-tenant. Aren't you planning to solve this to be able to have a real multi-tenant?

I was about to ask the same thing! Is the possibility of having the same extension number in different tenants coming?

Bulk editing is coming
separate phonebook per department is coming

What we do is have separate sip trunks, each with its own caller ID. Then assign the outbound rules per department.

Will there also be an operator extension setting for each department?, i.e. if a call comes out of voicemail...

Thanks @Nick Galea. Would it be possible to import holidays? Today I had to configure holidays for 14 Departments for a Belgium customer. And there are a lot of holidays in Belgium :) So it's a lot of click work.

That is a workaround. It is also possible to work with a prefix for an outbound rule, but that isn't very user friendly. Specially if you know there are competitors that do have the option to chose the outbound caller ID.

Looking forward to testing this when I have time. A question that I've got right now is around delegating admin rights to multiple tenancies, ie we work with a number of smaller MSPs who I imagine would love to bring over a couple of smaller clients who don't need a full 4-SC. Is there any way, or a plan to enable a way, to delegate a user to them with rights to manage their own tenants, without either giving them full system owner/admin or setting up a user on each tenancy (especially thinking about the email limitation per system)?

can you do multi tenant now in V20 with sip trunks, outbound rules, and departments per customer without this new version?

Thanks for the new features @Nick Galea
The V20 is certainly a big improvement.

What we're mainly missing at the moment:
- Mutli extention edit (but that's coming)
- Recording of IVR/Queue/Holiday message using a phone to the phone, as we have many medical assistants doing this without computers having any means to record. We noticed it does exists for voicemails, possible an issue with caching of wav files making it more difficult to reload, but a work around could be auto timestamping at the end of the file or something that makes it unique for every new recording.
- Playblack of that IVR/Queue/Holiday message to the phone to listen to it.
- I tested the XAPI, but couldn't find a "make call" function, with the previous V18 we could use the old web interface with curl (while not officially supported), this would be great as well to initiate a call with V20. You mentioned in this topic that also another API is coming, possible it's already included in that one.

Keep up the good work!

@GaSo thank you for your feedback. Multi edit is coming.... And we will have a new API which will allow controlling of calls coming very soon, its different from XAPI that's only for configuration.

The old call API is available and has already been released for V20, please see previous blog posts....

This new offering is fantastic and exactly what we need
Yes, you can make your own custom domain and then assign the subdomains to each tenant. We need to add some more documentation there actually. But you can see how it works if you sign up for 3CX SMB, you get a subdomain assigned it works same way.

Eg 1000.mydomain.com
How do you do this @Nick Galea? As someone else has mentioned, via https://www.3cx.com/install/, you can only select from the pre-determined 3CX provided addresses.

We've been anxiously awaiting this announcement since it was first teased last fall. Thank you for giving us partners this new solution for our small business customers! I do have some questions related to the new MCM:

Will it be possible to assign shared parking resources to a department/tenant? I know many of our smaller customers prefer to use the SP slots over transferring calls.

Will it be possible to target recording quotas per department/tenant?

Will there be per-department/tenant emergency call notifications and settings?

I think I've figured this out, hoping it works

If you do it from your Dashboard with an unused Serial Number, then it lets you use your own FQDN.

I'm going to give it a whirl tomorrow!

EDIT
Looking at the Config it generates, I'm not 100% sure it'll work but unless someone tells me otherwise, I'm going to try it anyway!

@ras-dw - yes that is the way...
@AaronJ - Thanks for the feedback - In terms of quotas the direction we will go is that you will archive all voice mail etc immediately out on to another machine. So qoutas itself is not something we are going to build out on. In terms of e911, we are going to beef up our options there, supporting PDFLO but it will be per extension not per department. Still it should achieve what you need I believe because it will be possible to set per extension.
Share parking, its already possible to do this. On SMB we set it up, but you can set it up per department yourself as well.

PIDF-LO per extension will cover many of the use cases and will be a significant addition. If it’s possible to do this per device in the future that would be another welcome feature. Example - user with desk phone at the office/school, but uses a soft phone remotely. Another is a user like me that travels between two offices with a desk phone at each location.

Very good news, thanks for that! :)

Does anyone know when the BLF keys will be configurable in the store client?

Wow, so many nice features are available in the update 2. Great job Teams 3CX.

One question about the MCM feature, will it be a hard limit to support only 20 users for each department if the partner hosts it on their hardware recourses?

Did we get an official answer about the user limit? You can just pick say 10100-10179 for users and 10180-10199 for system and that would allow for 80 users. I've just done this, but haven't tried creating 80 users to test that yet! Also good to get assurances that this setup isn't going to break in the future.

I'm not sure if I overlooked it or not on Version 20.0 Update 2 (Build 715 Release). Has Music on Hold by department been implemented yet? Also, do you need to be set up as MCM for that feature?

nott sure if my last posted. it vanished. are there any updates on when Music On Hold by department will be released? Also, will that require a MCM setup to implement just that one function?

It's not implemented yet, even with multi-tenant enabled. You can still set hold music on your queues though.
