Hello,

We have 3CX used in test and also have an existing analog phone system

3CX Extensions - 000 onwards

Existing Phone System - 100 onwards (We have mapped extension 124 into fxo 1 on the Grandstream unit)

We have added the gateway and it is registered without any issue, we have created an outbound rule from 3CX to existing phone system which works well and we call exiting phones on 100 onwards.

Just inbound calls from the exiting phone system are where we are struggling.

We had to make the inbound DID 4 digits so 0124 is this the issue?

Many Thanks

Hi Chris,

I use Patton's not Grandstream, although have used a Grandstream FXS channel bank before and found that the options in the interface were quite limited (they looked more of a basic converter in my view - hence the very cost effective prices you can get them for).

With that in mind the question I would ask is do Grandstream advertise that device for legacy PBX migration also as I have found with the Pattons that there are some special settings which are required for the process.

See this forum post for some information: https://www.3cx.com/community/threa...same-time-progressive-migration-to-3cx.62115/

I would however speak to Grandstream support and ask whether they have achieved this with one of their boxes.

Sorry it is actually a GWX-4104 unit. Long day

Hi Chris,

Go to your Activity Log and set it to Verbose mode from the Settings button.

Make a call (which will fail) and see what the log shows. If you are asking to reach extension 0124@pbxIP and the 3CX system does not have such a user, it will of course fail (user not found). You will have to ask for extension 124@pbxIP

Yep not seeing anything like that in the logs even with verbose mode switched on. It's like Gransdstream is fine forwarding out. Just not listening for internal calls

Ok, firstly I would recommend to setup your grandstream, strictly as per our guide here.
https://www.3cx.com/voip-gateways/grandstream-fxo/

Then, instead of connecting its FXO ports to the provider, you will connect them to the ports of your old analog PBX, where you would normally connect an analog phone extension.

When the old PBX calls that extension, the Grandstream should see there is a call on FXO 1 for example.

But you have to be aware, that the ringing the old PBX sends, might not be detected by the GrandStream. In that case, you might have some options to change to detect the rining.

Yep reset the device and done as you described. Ringing the old phone system from 3CX clients works well, just incoming calls are still not happy. Will keep trying. The Grandstream registers that the line is busy;

Line 1: busy Connected, idle

Do you have any links for changing the settings for ring detection?

Not really, I suspect you will have to resort to editing the FXO page values, but I can't advise any further because it depends on what the analog PBX is sending.

Ok inbound and outbound calls working, yep is a good step forward. Only issue now is!! only 1 line is active at any one time. So two lines connected and cannot use the second line if line 1 is connected and being used.

Anyone had a similar issue?

On inbound, outbound or both ?

Only thing i can think of is there is a round robin setting on the gateway.
This needs to be on so the next call will utilize a new line and not the on that's busy.

Both round-robin is set to the default: rr:1-4;

What do the logs on 3cx say ?

Silly question you have 4 seprerate cables connected to the FXO ports?

Ok changed the cable and now 2 lines are showing active, still the same issue though, line 1 used and go through to 3CX line 2 calls but does not go through to 3CX
