Dear 3CX,

I would like to know if it would be possible for the Windows dialer.exe to talk to the V18 Desktop App.
The older Windows client used the TapiPlugin for this but this doens't work for the V18 Desktop App as i've seen so far.

One of our customers used the Tapi for an application they have to double click on phone numbers to callout via 3CX.
The Application sends the data to the Windows Dialer.exe and this used to pass the info via the TAPI to the windows client but they don't have that anymore.

If anyone knows if it's possible to use the TAPI for V18 Desktop App/

Kind regards,

There's no TAPI on the new DesktopApp. I don't think it will ever do, since it's based on Electron and not C#/C.

However, you can still use the old Windows client. It still works and still supported, and has TAPI support.

The reason we don't wanna use the old Windows Client is because of the Update message you get every time you login on the RDS server as the customer is gonna try to update it or ask us for the update message we tried to prevent this.

Think I'll have to tell the customer that the package doesn't work with TAPI anymore.
Thanks for the information

I know this does not help anyone, but Microsoft stopped supporting TAPI over 20 years ago. It's time to let TAPI die and move on to modern, supported, technologies. I understand that there are some companies using legacy applications that only support TAPI... but in this case, it is time to rip the band-aid off and move to a new product and away from TAPI. 20-25 years is enough time to find a new solution.

That's my opinion.

If you use the latest Windows client, it should not show an update message unless the PBX is too old or the client is too old.
