All existing licenses can use their own SMTP. New licenses going forward can not - it requires a PRO (which in the first year in most cases is under a hundred dollars for the WHOLE year).

Custom FQDN and mail configuration we're frequently misconfigured and a cause of technical support and grief for customers. Configuring a reliable mail server just isn't as easy as it was a few years back. We now offer this through reliable and professional Google Cloud infrastructure.

Companies having to abide by PCI / SOX / HIPAA rules can of course use their own mail server. And public companies surely afford the PRO... If its a case of not wanting to pay 3CX then there are plenty of other options out there in the market - although i doubt they are going to be cheaper than 3CX.

as on linux there are to parts to the update process, the server URL you see in the console informing the OS about an update and in linux the apt-get used repository. There is release for a debian 9 stretch

Why not switch to secure repository like this unsupported browser? Deb file should be available like Windows 3CXPhoneSystem155.exe for manual install from GUI.

I installed gnome on my server and then wireshark installs nicely. So from the server I can do nice captures right from the source. Not for everybody, but I like it. If you want to go from GUI to text simply bring up a bash shell and type telinit 3 for text or telinit 5 for GUI.

Basically this first half of this procedure, if you install using a 3CX FQDN, is not needed. The certificate is already populated and in this update (V15.5 SP3) all you need to do is configure the endpoints (manually) to work with SIP TLS.

In the next update, we plan on also having SIP TLS as a provisioning option, so when provisioning the phone from the beginning you can choose to have it work with TLS.

OK, looks like provisioning with SIP TLS on the internal IP address works.

But when I enable SRTP (compulsory) on a Yealink T28P i cant make/receive any calls.

Also on the 3CX Softphone, registration fails if I select SIP transport = TLS (version 15.5.8801.3)

Wow. Really? Did you really just tell us that our HIPAA customers can surely afford the Pro version? My non-profit rural healthcare clinics would definitely disagree with you. Any more money they have to spend on infrastructure is money they can't spend on patient care..

Non-Profit. Give me a break. Highest salaries and bonuses around. Just the bottom line shows no profit. Big con. They can afford Pro. Same with churches.

I've worked with many non-profits. Bunch of scam artists.
Medical non-profits are in bed with Big Pharma.

I have my 3CX installed in Google Could in Debian 8 VM. Should I proceed with follow to be able upgrade my v15.5 sp3 BETA to v15.5 sp3 final?

Same here. No current day CALL LOGS. Other issues too with random "account unavailable" messages.

When applying SP3, the blacklist timeout for registrations resets to default 1800 seconds.

You can't see it.
It's another feature.

We'll survive also to this new feature and we'll force passwords to something known.
Anyway, we can't understand how security could be enhanced that way.
It instead seems a way to complicate life to sysadmins.
BTW it's still possible to send sensitive passwords in clear text over e-mails, the most insecure communication system in the world...

That's not for security but information privacy protection. I can understand its purpose. You should not be able to see someone's password no matter you are the admin. The password can be used somewhere else and it is its owner's privacy data. In many places privacy data protection is enforced by law.

You have nothing to worry about, but I will explain why by telling you what would happen with the "old" free license and then with the "new" free one:

"Old" Free License (8SC PBX Edition)
Once you activated your License Key, you automatically got maintenance for 1 year. After the year, it would remain an 8SC, BUT due to maintenance having expired you would lose your 3CX FQDN and 3CX SMTP service would stop. At that point you would have to pay for maintenance.

"New" Free License (16SC Standard)
Once you activated your License Key, you automatically get maintenance for 1 year. After the year, the key will be changed to a 4SC, but will remain Standard and your maintenance will be extended, so you won't lose your FQDN and SMTP capabilities.

1. If the license reverts to 4SC Standard after the first year if maintenance is not paid, how long will the FQDN and SMTP services be provided without paid maintenance? Sounds like this is perpetual, but is support also included?

2. It also sounds like a free 16SC Standard license could be converted to 8SC at the end of the first year by paying the annual license fee for 8SC Standard, is that correct? Or, presumably, they could choose to purchase any other annual license and have access to the capacity and rights that go along with that license (e.g., switch from 16SC Std to 16SC Pro by paying the slightly higher annual license fee for 16SC Pro)?

3. It it's possible to change license capacity at the end of the first year, to any annual license (https://www.3cx.com/ordering/pricing/), would it also be possible to convert the initial 16SC free/trial license to a Perpetual license?

We paid for a perpetual 16SC Standard license just over a year ago. We paid our first annual maintenance about 2 months ago. I just moved our install to a new server using backup/restore, and was surprised to find that our SMTP settings were gone, and could not be changed. We are using the same FQDN we originally installed on. I've read in this thread hat 3cx "stands by" the original agreement for SMTP settings, but I'm not buying it. Better hope your server doesn't crash!

Forcing paid customers to use your SMTP because you don't want to support them is a weak argument. We paid for the license, we paid for maintenance, and if we want the privilege of actually talking to you, it's another $75. I get making the easy option default, but come on. I do not appreciate features being removed from a "perpetual" license.

Why not make a nice request to 3CX to make good rather than trashing them. Trust me, as God I know how these things work. You don't sound like somebody one wants to help with that comment.

I’m sorry if my tone was offfensive. I’m not trying to insult anyone, but I am frustrated. I don’t have the luxury of spending $75 to open a ticket with 3CX for every question. How would you suggest I proceed?

Ran into a big issue with the templates for the Grandstreams.

The PC port is being turned off.

This is what is in the template:

This is what gets generated, it effectly turns off the PC port which is very bad.

If we enable the PC port VLAN, but don't change it from 0, it is correct.

Its OFF because that is what you selected it to be under the extension settings.
