Accidently doing conference with the pager

Hi, we accidently make a conference call with the pager, one of our user call the pager by the ring group, said his message to the pager and before hanging up push on the conference button... after that he hang up, result : the page was put on hold with himself and now play music on all the speaker... (ok we know how to shut down this active call...) is there a way to make that option unavailable on the ring group or on the extension??... to be sure no one will put the page on conference again!? Thx in advanced!!

Hi,

They are both legit actions, calling the paging extension and then merging the call in the conference room (where the paging extension now sits and transmits what it hears). You have to drop the call from the management console.

It would have been the same if the user calls the paging extension and then transfers the call to an external line or a queue.

Short version is, you can't really block it especially if the phone device is the one hosting the conference..

lol!, okay! so if there is no admin in the building.... the music will only stop when the admin will be contacted and remotely stop the music!!, ok! thx for the quick answer!!

Heh.. we run into this occasionally with some of our supermarket deployments. It's on my to-do list to figure out a way to prevent this.

Maybe a little "safety flap" over the conference button, for that user, that has to be moved in order to push it?

I suppose not. It requires that they pay more attention to what they are doing.
