Hello, wondering if this can be done.
I need to play a pre recorded audio msg when the users manually dial outbound, then after the audio, the CFD dials the number the user wanted to contact .

For example a particularly expensive prefix 555, so we let the user this call will be expensive
The user dials 555-123-1234 , CDF activates registers the number 123-1234, play audio file, then actually dials out the desired destination 555-123-1234

is it something that can be done? all pointers ideas and suggestions are welcomed. thanks

A CFD app can't intercept outbound calls. It needs to receive an inbound call in order to start interacting with it.

Something you could do is, instead of making the call to the number 555-123-1234, you dial the CFD app extension number, for example 850. Then, once connected, the app will ask you the number to dial, and you enter 555-123-1234 via DTMF. The CFD app can then check if you need the "expensive call" audio or not, and play it when needed. Then the app transfers the call to the desired destination.

As you can see, this changes the way in which users would have to dial out, so probably not a suitable solution, but it's the best you can do about this.

Thanks @edosantos So intercepting all outbound calls would have the same issue then ?

Maybe i need to tackle this via the outbound route and sip trunk used. Have a separate system with a trunk and the audio. hmmm coffee time…. thanks
